    My Trip Report

    12/30/2014

Arrived in LV at 3 in the afternoon. it was surprisingly quiet. Picked up my car at Sixt and went to container park to drop off the Korean dumplings and pick up chocolares for my host and Derek Stevens (CEO of GG and the D).

Checked in and got what the D calls a "Jr. suite". it is another name for the end unit which is slightly larger and has a couch.

Ate dinner at the D grille and headed off to Penny Pibbets show at the Stage Arts Theater. (a full review) will be forthcoming in the Entertainment section.

Came back and played $5 Double Diamond at the D After 6 pulls, this happened . . . .

    IMG_20141230_235701.jpg

to make a long story short, I hit the machine for the top jackpot of $8,000.

so now what do i do? i decided to go up to the room an wait until morning to figure it out. Ordinarily, I would consider going home at this point . But I had just gotten here and still had things to do.

    more tomorrow. . . .

Excellent! I'm guessing you played two coins?

Why leave? All the pressure's off, just play normal the rest of the way.

Head to the bank and deposit 6k to lock in the win. Then play with extra money left and original bankroll

Great way to start. Don't go home. Put some of the money away to go home (if no control put it in the bank or see if you can get a check) and then enjoy your time in Vegas.

    DAY 2 (through 5:30PM)

    day 2

So, after getting advice that my car needed to be back by 9:30am because they started shutting down the streets, i decided not to go to the bank today to deposit the check, i'll do it tomorrow or Friday.

one of my tasks this trip was to buy some 1/4 lb. (3 troy oz.) silver strikes from the Four Queens. i went over there this morning and met with Shawn Webster, one of the slot directors that handles the silver strike program.

I purchased 5 silver strikes for $100 each. I realize that is way above the price for junk silver, but each of these is a minted silver piece. QQQQ was selling them at a loss because they were selling at one time for $149. But, that's another story . . . .

One of my other tasks was to find the "Gold" ATM at the Golden Nugget and see what the markup over spot was. I had already been "shamed" in another thead and decided not to purchase anything. i had already found gold ingots at 1% over spot anyway. I found the machine. It is next to the display of the largest Gold Nugget in the world. They were selling 1 oz. gold coins for $1328. gold is right now about $1200/oz. That was too much premium for me, but i know where it is now.

Ate breakfast at Dupars in the Golden Gate. Three cheese omlette, hash brown, toast, OJ and coffee for $20.00. Very good as usual.

10AM. Time to figure out how not to gamble all of my profits away. Decided to spend some time at Downtown Grand. It was pretty dead there. the machines were pretty tight, and I ended up losing a bit there.

So, between QQQQ, Golden Gate, and DG, i dropped back about $1000. Hey, my gambling budget is $1500/day, and i was up about $7500, so what the heck, right?

Went back to the room and got the birthday gift for Marty, my host. I took it downstairs and she congratulated me on my jackpot the night before. Apparently, the hosts get a report ecery day with any of their players (exceptional?) wins or losses.

So, after that, i went back to the room and watched the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on my tablet.
On the way back to my room I places a parlay bet on my alma mater (Oregon) and the over vs. FSU. $100. The line was down to 7.5. I may put a bet down on the Alabama/Ohio State game tonight or tomorrow.

I was going to take a nap, but at 3PM they were handing out the wristbands for tonight.

Went downstairs, and on the way saw Jim (A CPA from North Dakota) in the elevator. Jim had been playing the double diamond machine last night before me. I shared some "lucky money" with him. He was very appreciative of the unexpected gesture. His wife was almost in tears.

I got my wristband and played some more. Ended up making $700 back on a non-W2-G jackpot. It was $1189.75 on one of those "four play" machines. I got the bonus on Treasures of Troy and ended up with 100 free games.

    IMG_20141231_161319.jpg IMG_20141231_161318.jpg

Dinner is at 6PM tonight on the 12th floor. it will be interesting to see what they have in store for us tonight.

I will need to come up and take a nap after dinner because I got to sleep at 3AM and woke up at 8AM.

At least that will keep me out of he casino for a couple of hours.

Dinner was a buffet affair, seat yourself.

Salads, Asparagus, potatoes, pasta with cheese, chicken, snow crab legs, pork tenderloin and prime rib, also lots of desserts. Very tasty.

Derek Stevens spoke at 7:45 and thanked us all for coming, and then stated that they will be installing new elevators and remodeling the bathrooms in 2015.

I finally got to "get rid of" the chocolates that I had for him from Jinju. After that, I left and took a nap from 8 to 10. Got up and looked at where I was financially. I had given back more than I originally thought, but was still way up, but this was a cautionary message to myself to he careful since I had 2 more days.

Went out on Fremont St. to Walgreens for some things, and then walked down to the Golden Gate to view the bands. At the 3rd street stage, it was the Queen tribute group, at 1st street it was the Led Zepplin tribute group, and at the Main Street stage, it was the No Doubt tribute group. All three groups were very good, as is the AC/DC tribute group playing now outside my window.

On the way back I stopped into Golden Nugget and made a quick $240 on a "Wild and crazy" $1 machine.

So, I'm still ahead and going to sleep. I can drive tomorrow so I will take care of some other business. Maybe I'll take in the Fabrege exhibit at Bellagio, since tickes are a Platinum mLife benefit. Still up $4000 after expenses. 2 days to go.

Still ahead, now time for bed. . . . .

That was very nice of you to share some "lucky money" with Jim. Good luck during your remaining time and happy new year.

day 3 more slot and sports ticket porn

    day 3. I'm a bad, bad boy . . . . otherwise known as "You can't win on the strip . . . or can you?"

Woke up at 8AM, drove up to Mirage to put down some sports bets, collect silver strikes, and all around nonsense. Ended up dropping $1500 plus the $400 in sports bets. I was very mad at myself. So I got into the car and went to Venetian/Palazzo and ended up winning back the $2000 with some play in the high limit slot pit, plus a rare $960 win on a dollar machine.

    IMG_20150101_111654.jpg

OK, I'm back even, and only out $500 in sports bets, so I decide to go to the movies. I went to the theater at the Palms and saw Exodus: Gods and Kings because it was 2:45 and would take me "out" of the action for a couple of hours. I was going top drive to Primm, but the only thing out there are two casinos and outlet shopping.

Got out of the movie and then decided to go to Sam's Town. That was a mistake. I ended up dropping $1200 there, and I was "egged on" by the fact that Oregon covered and made the over, so that cut my losses a little bit.I started feeling a little tired, and knew that my body was telling me to get back to the room, eat dinner and get some sleep.

On the way in I made a quick $350 on the $5 Top Dollar.

So, here are the winning sports tickets

    Oregon_Parlay.jpg Oregon_Straight.jpg

Ended up today down $1000 but, here are the positives:

made about 30,000 Tier credits for mLife
made about 5000 status points for Grazie
made about 20,000 points for Boyd Gaming

Will be going to Mirage tomorrow to cash in my sports ticket and try to get enough silver strikes for the $300 Terry Fator strike.

It's only 9:30 but I'm going to bed. The tribute band tonight is a Van Halen tribute band.

Only one more day to just "take it easy". Much easier said than done . . . . But . . I'm having lunch with a friend at the Tilted Kilt in the Linq. The Linq is a CET casino so I won't be playing there.

It is now 4AM on Friday. I slept from 10 until 2:30am. Then went down to walgreens to pick up some stuff. on the way there hit for $250 on a Buffalo Stampede machine. Then got a snack at All American Coney Island dogs and came back to the room. it's getting easier and easier to not sit down and play. Still up $3500 with 1 day to go.

I shared lucky money with Jim and another lady who was playing on the other side. I believe in moving the luck forward.

    Great hits so far!

And rooting for the Ducks all the way!

Big ten alums not from Ohio St./Michigan don't root for Ohio St./Michigan. Michigan not making a bowl but Illinois making one was a huge treat this year.

Good way to end the year with your last 2014 W2G.

Maybe you will start the year with a larger 2015 W2G?

I will be going around to the casinos tomorrow to request win/loss statements.

It has been a very good year. (14) W2-G, which allowed me to come to LV 12 times. I`m coming down again in 3 weeks and possibly again in February.

day 4. . . a day too long. broke my cherry at Wynn (W2-G), and still lost

well, the day started at 8am. i went to the Mirage to cash in my ticket and collect addl. silver strikes. dropped anotger $1000 there and come to find out tat Mirage is temporarily out of $300 strikes. So, I have to schlep them home.

Had lunch at the Tilted Kilt at the Linq. I asked the waitress, "aside from the pretty waitresses, and since i don't drink alcohol, how's the food?"

The food was pretty good. I had the Shepherd's pie.

Then, the first of my transgressions .. .

I stayed and played at the Linq . . . for about 2 hours, and dropped about $700. After that, I made a second or third transgression . . I went to tne Wynn. Now, I have comp privileges at the Wynn, but rarely (haven't stayed there in 2 or 3 years) because that place is so damn tight . . . . no wonder the minimum marker limit is $5k. So, having left most of my cash in the safe in the room, I took out a $2k marker. I admit, I was trying to make lightning strike, but all I did was lose damn near the whole $2k.

When I referred to "broke my cherry", it was the only casino that I hadn't gotten a "hand pay" from.

Well, I hit one, on $0.25 Forbidden Dragons, 100 coins, but all it did was bring me back to $500 down . . .

    20150102_Wynn_1455.jpg

After a couple more hours of play there, I dropped $400 of it back and decided to leave.

Went back to the D and saw Jim and Debbie. They had a "good day" apparently, Debbie hit (2) $5k jackpots but put it all back. I know, I know, no control, but hey, we're here to gamble, not go and hide somewhere. I played $5 Triple Diamond and made $550 and decided to go upstairs and lick my wounds.

I'm still $1500 up, including expenses.

It's Jan 2, so the free play counters have reset. I'm going to take a walk down Fremont Street and see what I can do with the free play at:

    the D - $100
    QQQQ - $80
    Golden Nugget - $50
    Golden Gate - $50

Nice slot porn! I'll be in Vegas in less than a week! I am hoping to do more hit-n-run winning sessions, than my usual stick around too long and dig myself into bigger and bigger holes. Good luck on your last day!
