As a vegas virgin who will be there for one week, i will be trying to (as well as gamble and drink excessively) find and see some of the not so mainstream attractions in vegas. So my idea is if people are willing to do a top 5 things to do list I can find the best ones and try them out. I am already looking to check the container park out as I've read a lot of good things..............

Are you only looking for "off the beaten path" type attractions?

No, not at all. Just people's favourite places to visit whilst in vegas. On the strip, off the strip and anywhere I between :)

You have got to see downtown at night, spend a few hours and take a lot of pictures. Best gambling, weirdest people and a lot of fun///////////////

There are many ways of choosing a top 5, but I think I'll go with the "wow" or "only in Vegas" visual places and spaces that make me smile or think:
    1. Chandelier (Bar) in Cosmopolitan
    2. Art around Aria and City Center, particularly the canoe sculpture outside of Vdara
    3. The never-gets-old Bellagio Fountains
    4. The main entrances (from the lobby or from the Strip) to Venetian
    5. The beautiful gardens and public spaces of Wynn and Encore

I've got a few, and 1 or 2 still on the "to do" list:

    Bellagio fountains
    Top of the Stratosphere
    Watch the FSE
Watch the dancing dealers at either Golden Gate, or The D
People watch at the outside bar at 4Queens

One of our favorites things to do in Vegas is to watch the sunset over the Strip (and all the lights come on) from the lounge patio at Foundation Room (at the top of the Mandalay Bay tower).

It's a dive bar a block east of the strip, on Flamingo. Nothing special, but worth a visit for $3 hotdog and beer combo.

Then keep going east another block, turn right on Koval and go to the previously mentioned Ellis Island for the $8.99 steak dinner special (includes a 20 oz. beer, brewed on-site); or the $5.99 steak and eggs breakfast special; $5 blackjack (with good rules); and if you're there from 9 pm to 3 am, some of the most memorable karaoke you'll ever hear.
