Tomorrow is almost here and we leave for our four day adventure in Vegas! I am going to attempt a LIVE TR, but we'll see how that goes once I start drinking and gambling!

We live in the Phoenix area so it is a nice 5 hour drive. The beauty of driving is we can take alcohol, mixers, snacks, and more ( :ssst:)

    Wish us luck!

It doesnt take 5 hours. Go through Wickenburg and it is much shorter than that. I just took the trip. Great ride.

    Have fun.

So, as much as I really wanted to do the live TR, alas the lights and action of Las Vegas got the better of me. So, I will do what any sane person does and do a post-trip Trip Report...

    Thursday
We left the Phoenix area around 12:00 noon and experienced very light traffic. For anyone who has ever done this drive, it is beautiful with so much scenery to enjoy. We stopped for gas in Wickenburg and again in Kingman. We didn't really need it, but wanted to make it back to Kingman on the way home Monday.

VIP check-in at the Flamingo was a breeze (as always) and we settled into our 21st floor room with a view of the gardens and pools. We used to always get the strip view room, however the music from the new rooftop club at the Cromwell plays until the wee hours of the morning and JUST in CASE we want an early night, we don't want to be kept awake by all the thumping. However, Thursday ended up being a 3:30 am night (or morning) so the noise probably wouldn't have been an issue.

    Friday
The whole purpose of this trip was to help celebrate our daughter-in-laws 30th birthday. Our son planned it as a surprise for her as she had never been to Las Vegas before. He managed to keep it a secret until Friday morning when he told her to pack her bags for 4 days and hinted at what she should include in her wardrobe. He then kept the Las Vegas part secret a little longer until they arrived at the terminal. He booked Presidential limo for pickup and drop off. Our son is in the Air Force and they have lived a few different places where his wife has made some good friends that of course, she has to leave every time they move. Our son surprised her in Vegas with 3 of these friends and her Mom, too! I helped him create a "treasure hunt" to find them all in various places in and around the Flamingo. Needless to say, it was fun to watch and there was a lot of screaming, hugging, and some crying as she "found" each of her surprises. Once the hunt was done we all headed to Margaritaville for dinner and of course, some margaritas!

After dinner, we took the "kids" to our room so they could transport to their room all the liquor we had brought for them. This is one of the perks of being able to drive to Vegas. Those "free" drinks while gambling are not so "free" really as we all know. Anyway, they went their way and hubby and I headed down to the casino to see what kind of damage we could do. I hit the slots and hubby hit the poker room. He lost about $300, but I hit a Twilight Machine slot for $690 and then again for $802. So together, we were up for the night. I decided to call it an early night (after my previous 3:30 am bedtime) because we were doing a cabana on Saturday and I wanted to be nice and refreshed! Saturday to follow (hopefully tomorrow).
