You might see the same server more than once if you tipped more than that.

    Baseline is $1

I go to the bank and get several rolls of nickels before I head to Vegas. If I'm getting great service I usually bump it up to 10-15¢ though. :rolleyes2:

    Troll, I pray.

Has to be. $1/drink is probably the only tipping-related subject people agree on here.

You should be starting off with green chips for the first drink. Once things are going well, consider a black chip. If they bring water I would spring directly to a purple.

I tip an average of $2 a drink, mostly non alcohol drinks, and $3 at Cromwell.

Dimes are bad luck. Ten pennies are better.

I always tip $2 per round. Have rarely had bad service and the last trip they seemed friendlier than ever and more appreciative of the tips than ever.

What do other people tip for a bottle of water?

I tip $1 per waitress visit.

For a bottle of water, I tip $1. If I'm drinking water, it usually means I'm sitting at a poker table and the waitresses are walking around with trays of water anyway, so that's not a drink I've asked for that she has to spend time going and getting. For soft drinks, I tip $2. For hot drinks or alcoholic drinks, anything between $2 and $5. I hate to see people stiff waitresses when they order coffee, since this takes a lot more effort on her part than, say, a beer. The tip should (in my view) be related to her effort and not the value of the drink if you were paying for it yourself. If I'm caught up in something when a drink arrives and I miss the waitress as she puts it down, I always overtip on her next visit.

In typing this, I realise that I have built up a set of informal rules in my head that I didn't realise I had. I think I need to get checked for OCD.

Standard in the casino is a dollar, night clubs $3 - $5 per drink, but a couple of times at the Flamingo pool I learned that the less the waitress wears, the more tip money somehow slides through my fingers. After seeing this thread though, I have been brainstorming ideas of where I can carry a roll of quarters in my swim trunks to avoid over tipping going forward!

Wow, I never thought about coffee being labor intensive for the waitresses. Have to readjust my tipping calculus.

I have often tipped $1 for an alcohol drink + a small water. Is that bad?
