According to LVA, quoting USA Today, Tinoco at LVC has closed. It also reports that Firefly has a new location coming soon to Plaza. I wasnt impressed with Tinoco the last couple of times I ate there. Breakfast was cold both times, and service almost non existent even though I was the only one in there.

What I find more interesting, is that Firefly would give it a second shot. In a newspaper article written when closed, they stated that they did not know that they were losing money until they closed..... Ummm, not very good management if you dont realize that you have lost money for over a year.....

Imagine how little a rest. cares if they let the only breakfast that's been cooked, get cold? Good riddance. service at the upper deck in the old days was pretty poor as well.

I'm assuming that Firefly will not be in their old spot in the Plaza, huh?

Passed by Tinoco many times, tempted to try it. But it looked dark, depressing, overpriced, and always had a hostess scowling at the front door. Even when I stayed there and would pass by several times to and from my room, there was no way of missing that scowling face. I hate to see business die, but her expression was the one I always saw on faces at Sahara, and we know how that ended.

I must admit I have tried almost every restaurant downtown except this one. Something about it was very unappealing....

When they first opened, the food was very good. Even then though, the service was lacking, and like Sam says, always scowls a plenty. I might scowl too if I was stuck back there though :).... no on second thought, I would just quit.....

I tried tinoco's this past January when I stayed at the LVC. Had breakfast there. There was a bfast special with 2 eggs, bacon, toast and hb. The food was okay, nothing special. The place was relatively empty, I think there was one couple when I sat down and another came in after I did.

The place never took off, prices were a little high and so I didn't even think about eating dinner there.

I don't think we will lose much with this place closing.

But what will happen to all the lobsters that were in the machine out in front? I don't think they had to worry about someone catching them the whole time there were in there.

The upper deck was interesting when it was open, with their tbone special and super super sized burger. As someone also said, upper deck also had a problem with slow service, so I only ate there when I had the time to wait for the food.

Too bad that the LVC restaurants never learned something about good service, it might have kept them open.

I liked it when it was Great Moments about 4 or 5 years ago. Until they renovate the LVC, no restaurant will make it if they have to go through the casino to get to it. Look at all the wasted space in the back of LVC. They really do need a makeover.

This reminds me. I ate there right before it closed, at about 2am. I swear the server was drunker than I was. He was dropping things, falling over... pretty funny now I think about it. I also remember some pretty drunk and unruly patrons in there. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work that shift, in that type of restaurant.
