I've tried searching for it here and didn't come up with much; probably because of the TI vs. Treasure Island namesake with regard to the search function.

They have a TV Ad special for some decent rates but indicate the resort fee is optional - making the deal quite a bit sweeter. I read the fine print and it's pretty spartan as to the optional portion of it. Does anyone have any experience with their optional resort fee? I'm going to call them later today, but figured I'd like to go armed with info beforehand if possible.

    Thanks!

Just as mentioned, the fee is optional for many of the packages you can buy online. We booked such a package in Feb 2013. However -since it was a business trip and I needed internet, I opted to pay the resort fee and get the internet (you can buy just the internet separately, but I didn't find that to be a good value - at least with the resort fee I got cocktail & buffet coupons, if I'm recalling correctly)

Reading some of the fine, fine print sometimes the fee is mandatory. Really confusing. Makes you have to reserve and then follow up with reservations.

My son booked this package last September and had no problems with it.

looks like it is optional for the TV ad. Good find. Don't need any of those things included in resort fee. Makes TI a possibility for me.

Only need internet but for $20 a night I can get it from my service provider .

As I understood it when I called and talked to them, it was only those particular offers that allowed folks to waive the resort fee. At one time anyone could waive it with any booking. However, for most bookings the fee is now mandatory (tells you too many waived it) but those ads make offers that are sweetened by waiving the fee.

The offers I get from the Players club always say that the resort fee is optional, so sign up and run $20 through to save on the resort fee. I haven't gambled there is a couple of years and still get quarterly emails from them.

So true, I haven't spent a dime there my last two trips yet I'm still getting promos emailed to me. Just got one last week that says I will get $50 in free play if I earn 100 points before August 31. Tempted to do this on my July trip

Phade, if you haven't contacted them, just make sure you are booking the TV promo to get the resort fee as optional. If you book some of their other options it isn't optional. And as someone else said, player club free nights are optional as well. They will ask you at checkin if you want the resort fee and amenities with it or not. Not worth it imho as some of the things that it claims it is for, are free anyway, like printing boarding passes and pool entry (with a room card).
