I will be staying at Silverton for the first time from Sept 11-15. I have gambled there several times and have eaten at Twin Creeks Steakhouse, which I thought was very good. So I decided to give it a try staying there. Any tips for staying there? Any specific room location to ask for or thoughts on the buffet or other restaurants? Thanks.

My wife loves this place, we end every trip with three nights there. It's small so no views really, some over look the pool, and it can get loud during the day if you like a nap.

If you look at their web sight, it shows the different rooms. Even the cheapest aren't bad just a little worn. Great beds, clean and a short walk to the casino.

The cafe is good, the buffet varies, sometimes great and other times just ok. They usually have a promotion going that gives some kind of food credits. Between these and points we eat almost free here.

We only ate at the Mexican place once, so so service and meh food.

Cocktail service is generally faster then I can drink, and the dealers are some of the nicest in town.

It's only 4 stories high and the best view is the pool. (nice to sit out at the pool in the evening and have a drink). Rooms aren't as modern as the strip but clean and well furnished. Food is generally good (we avoid buffets) with many choices.

A few other thoughts, the safe needs a credit card to open and close. No charge to use it, just to lock and unlock. I have a old prepay card that works.

If your self parking, it's a long walk from the garage to the front desk. If you drive around back there's a walkway on the north? Side that's brings you in about fifty feet from the front desk. There aren't any signs but you can see it between the buildings. It's also close to the elevators.

I've never stayed there but often drive up for breakfast (Sundance Grill) when I'm at Southpoint or M.
Good food, not too pricey and a much nicer spot than Southpoint's coffee shop.

(Too bad they switched to Starbuck's coffee.)

They are building a new addition, and the last time we were there we couldn't park on the north/back side. Anyone know how the construction is progressing?

just stayed for a night in mid august and from what I heard, the new tower is a time share! say what! I thought this was going to be a new tower for Silverton but according to everything I saw and heard, time share. bummer, I stay here often and was looking forward to some nicer rooms. lately we have been staying in their upgraded king rooms. nicely furnished and a much nicer bathroom. still small but they replaced the old bathtub with a walk in shower. also, no giant armoire and old style tube TV. nice flat screen. I get comped rooms and they charge me $30 extra for this room. I then use points to pay it off at checkout. I believe these are all on the first floor and if you like the pool, ask for one on that side of the hall, otherwise you get a view of the sidewalk for the back entrance. also, if noise is an issue, ask for a room on the 4th floor. This is an all wooden structure and you can hear all the people walking around above you. it doesn't bother us much but if you sleep in late, it can be irritating.
as for the restaurants, Twin Creeks is really good and we enjoy the late night happy hour. Sundance is also really good with decent food at reasonable prices. We have not had good luck at the Mexican place as both time we had crappy service and mediocre food. we never eat at the buffet but it's cheap and looks decent. Johnny Rockets is also a good choice and eating it at their new sports book and watching a game is great! There's also a Starbucks and they serve their coffee throughout the casino. Bailey's and Coffee! Yum! Several good bars with decent VP.
We always have a car and usually spend the day driving around, shopping, eating, etc. but enjoy Silverton a lot and they treat us right. we're not high rollers and it's pretty easy to get 3 nights comp whenever we want. Good Luck!

Yep, parking in the back is the way to go. The safes no longer take credit cards to lock. Now you just punch in a 4-digit pin. So much easier than trying to figure out what credit card you used to lock it up with.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. A large part of the parking lot is closed off with signs up saying there is a new project, but it doesn't say what the project is. I think it said it will be completed in 2016.

Hi Diamond Jim - I asked this question somewhere else on this site a couple of weeks ago, and was told they are building a time-share tower. UGH!!
