I just got back with my friend who is a big backseat gambler.

    Examples:

When I would gamble, he would make suggestions like lower your bet, bet this, etc., etc., etc.

I was playing baccarat and made a descent size wager, he would tell me to lower my bet. When I bet banker for example, he would tell me to go player. I would sit out a hand and he would tell me to bet and it was right, I get the "I told you". When I'm up, you get the "you should leave". I played a few hands in roulette, I would get "play this other table, it's hot".

What are your thoughts on backseat gamblers?? Personally for me, it kills my vibe and the bad luck begins...

That would be my last trip with someone behaving like that.

If your money isn't on the table, and I didn't ask for your input, keep your mouth shut or GTFO. Don't care if you are my friend or not. this x 5 if you are some casual observer I don't know.

I was at a full craps table at PH once, and there were 2 girls playing at the end who were new. The dice came their direction, and out of nowhere some guy shows up, trying to tell them what to do and how to bet, etc. I'm not sure how these girls knew this dude, but he was really slowing down the game by "helping" these girls. To the point where ppl at the table were beginning to get pissed. And yet the pit boss did nothing. Each girl hit a couple points, I wouldnt say either got hot, but everyone made some money from their rolls. And thats when this D Bag starts pestering the other players for "tips". Needless to say, I have never seen a table full of people get so upset. A couple guys straight up left, didnt even color up, and one player started chewing the pit boss out for letting this clown stick around.
The joker ended up being talked to by security, (not sure if he was escorted out or not) but the damage had been done.

I cannot stand this behavior. The absolute worst is when they say in a cocky tone "Told you!" while standing behind you. Those two words have made me want to sock some close friends right in the nose. That is why I no longer will play when a friend is watching. Either play along with me or leave me the hell alone.

The only person who does this to me is my wife. In which case, I smile and thank her for helping me. :)

This is one of my pet peeves. I hate for someone to stand and watch me. Even my wife. LOL With her I'll just hand her a hundred and tell her its a good luck hundred and to find something to play. Although when she does win none of that ever seems to find it's way back to me. LOL

If it's a complete stranger I just let them know it's not a spectator sport and to find somewhere else to be. I really love the ones that walk up after you've hit a hand pay and ask how much you had in the machine. I usually tell them that's like asking someone how much they have in their bank account. Most just look at you in a bewildered way but they usually just wander away.

People are bad about it in the indian casinos here in Oklahoma. If I get someone standing behind me watching I'll just usually stop playing until they go away.
I never understood why someone would want to sit there and just watch.

Yep annoying behaviour and one of the reasons a solo trip can sometimes be better...

One time I was playing a machine and a random guy came over and started talking about a machine he knows nearby which is paying out frequently and that I should come play it etc etc.

Obviously hoping I did, that I hit something and then felt obliged to tip him or something. The poor bloke did look like he didnt have a buck to put in a machine unfortunately so it was probably a reasonable strategy for him.

Painful nonetheless to have to convince him to move on... :grrr:

I have never experienced that. The closest I have come are dealers who tell me what I should be doing. Not the friendly suggestion when I am making a true mistake, but I mean dealers who give bad BJ advice, encourage me to make sucker bets at craps, or insist that I should bet ties and pairs at bac. That drives me nuts

Happened to me this past weekend. My friends know not to do it.. My wife on The other hand always has some sht to say as she just wants me to leave after a short period of of time. Or she will grab my bet and lower it.

I was playing and another guy was playing trying out the match/pair side bet at blackjack. I hit a couple of suited pairs but I wasn't playing. His friend kept groaning each time, making a big deal about it. His friend said shut up or put ur money out there. He kept doing it but never wagered a single cent.

If a good friend I would mention something first with the hopes of change.

Another option is to give him a $100 and tell him to prove his theory. When all the money is gone you can tell him STFU. To me that would be worth the $100.

I don't mind when people just watch my play, it's the comments and TIPS that bother me. I'll just ask them to move on...
