    Hi All,

I am not a frequenter of downtown restaurants, but I wanted a nice place to take my Mom after a concert at the Smith Center we will attend in February.

I read a little on Hugo's, but wanted some real reviews from my Vegas family here! What I am most concerned with is the parking situation. Can I valet park at the FQS? If so, where do I enter for valet park? Also, how far into the casino is Hugo's?

    Thanks in advance!

Oh VegasGroove, you have no idea what a tempest you just stirred up. I like Hugo’s and we have had a couple of very nice dinners there. However, many will point out that it is not comparable to most good steak restaurants and they would be correct. I think it provides very good value in old-school atmosphere and service. I also think your mom would enjoy the place, especially if she is older.

Was planning on having Christmas dinner there. I am very much looking forward to the prime rib.

I've been there once and it was really good! I would highly suggest it.

    Thanks, everyone!

xmarksx: thanks for the candid description of Hugo's. I've learned to assess the nature of complaints and go from there. Like if someone complains that the food was burnt or the wait staff was horribly rude - then no, I wouldn't go to that restaurant. But, if someone complains about a torn napkin, then I don't give much credence to that.

Hugo's is my favorite Vegas restaurant. Their Bleu Cheese Crusted NY Strip is orgasmic. I love their Honey Orange Walnut Vinaigrette house dressing as well. Some nights the food seems to be a bit better than others, but have never had anything close to a bad meal there.

It's easy to get to in the casino. Just walk in, walk to the back and down the stairs. Can't help you with parking, since I have no idea.

I'm sure your mother will love it, and the rose is a nice touch.

The best Hugo's tip I can give you is to make reservations at the Half Price Ticket place at the Fashion Show Mall. For $3 a person you get a 25% discount on your bill. You can't beat that.

If someone posts a negative review, why is that being a "negative nellie"? As opposed to posting a positive review and being labelled a fanboy? Reviews are reviews - reports of experiences, good or bad, and as they're given by humans, they're going to be subjective and contextual. Take what you want from them, good or bad, but just because some people report bad experiences or god forbid don't like something doesn't mean we're a bunch of "negative nellies":peace:

That said, when I go out for a nice meal downtown, I want the pan fried whole snapper at Second Street Grill. Every time:thumbsup: I have never given a review of Hugo's because I've never eaten there. But my reading of other reviews is that it's not on my list of places I want to try.

There are several on this board who NEVER EVER seem to have a nice or positive thing to say about anything... that's an observation I've made over the past 18 months and is certainly their prerogative... but also within my purview to notice it. Never once thought of your posts as being in that grouping... they're knowledgeable, informative and often "opinionated", which is exactly what a board like this is supposed to be about... you're correct.

I guess I always see this board as compared to some place like TripAdvisor and we're not nearly as negative as those reviews can be. Ah well - no matter the source of the review, good or bad, it only means as much as we want it to:peace:

You can park with Valet at 4Q with out any problems. You don't have to be a hotel guest to use it and they take good care of your car. Valet is off of Carson and 3rd. Hugos is in the middle of the casino, but its not a large casino. The food at Hugos is really good and the service is good. Try triple 7 at MSS, its so good and well priced.
