Well maybe didn't "make" me drink...I handle that pretty much on my own. So here is how it happens….. Friday night I pack up the Ketel One, Buttershots, Peach Schnapps and Cranberry Juice. Ready to meet up with Vegas Jer, Coaster Kikky and IllMarty. I call for a taxi and they tell me the wait is 1 ½ hours. So I pour my margarita back in the jug in my backpack, get in my truck and head downtown. Not too familiar with downtown parking (actually I find it confusing), I hit the valet at Binions and pass off the vehicle for the night to the handsome young man waiting for the keys. Not sure I would ever see my truck again, but that’s alright “it’s insuredâ€. I stroll through Binions and get a hold of Becky and tell her I have arrived. She says they are just finishing up with some blackjack and they would meet me up the street. So I start strolling towards the El Cortez and of course have to stop and get a drink on the way. Then I had to stop at one of the street vendors and buy some cards for my sister. So I finally meet up with Becky and Jer. They say they are looking for Marty “you can’t miss him†they say. He is the tallest person down here with red hair. So I am pretty short and can’t seem to find him. Eventually Becky texts him and where is he? “Buying Beer†is the response. So we find him in the ABC store. I introduce myself, having never met him before of course. Great guy I have to say. I’ll party with him anytime his wife lets him come out and play in the desert. So we head back to the El Co and to Jer’s suite to have a few drinks. So we start with a Woo Woo and move onto some BJ shots (without the whipped cream or a shot glass because I forgot them, darn it). So we drank the shots from the provided plastic cups in Jer’s suite. Then it was time for some margaritas, yummy. Had a couple of those after a few more BJ drinks (as they weren’t really shots at that point). Jer asked if I had ever played craps. Nope, so it was decided that’s where we were heading. We get there and the table if full. Not even room to put an arm in there. So they make me belly up to the blackjack table. I had never played before and after so many drinks there was NO WAY I could count to 2, let alone 21. So Jer and Becky said they would help me. I figured between the 3 of us we could count to 21. We played for a while and had a good time, then moved on to Fremont Street. We stopped in to a couple other places not sure of the first place. Then on the way back to El Co we stopped in 4 Queens so I could get myself a Silver Strike. SCORE, after about 4-5 pulls it spit one out. I even made Becky do the Silver Strike dance. You have to see it to know what it is. But if you don’t do the Silver Strike dance you might offend the SS Gods and might not get one the next time. Somewhere downtown we lost Marty too, he wasn’t feeling too well so he must have retreated to his room. Back at the El Co I spotted a SS machine and had to pay homage with my usual $20. Lost it without really hitting much more than 10 quarters. Then I stuck in the next $20 (against my normal rules) but after the 3rd or 4th spin, I hit the strike. Cashed out my $15 or so and then retreated to the suite with my friends for a couple more drinks and some chatting. Eventually it was about 4am and time for me to get heading home. So Jer walked me to the elevator and I headed up to the Plaza to catch a cab and head home. During my walk I stopped at the Las Vegas Club and played a bit of keno. Then across the street to the Plaza, I spotted a SS machine and had to do it. So in went the $30 and on the first spin…..SILVER STRIKE…I did the dance. Even though people around there acted like they hadn’t seen anyone do the dance before. Grabbed my strike and cashed in my ticket and spotted a Price is Right machine. I always have to play them when I see them because I don’t see them around much any more. So I put in my $20 and about 30 to 45 minutes later I cashed out $95.55. I grabbed some chicken nuggets from McD’s and jumped in a cab. At 5:30 I jumped out at home and realized the valet at Binions has my house key along with my truck keys. So I call my house 3 times before hubby picks up and I say let me in. I am home and in bed at 6am. Saturday night I met the gang at Carnaval Court. I park at Flamingo and walk over and meet them at the blackjack table. I sit there and have a drink that they had already ordered. It was good! Some lemony tasting thing that looked like pink lemonade, I will have more of those when I go there. Eventually some of the gang split up and Becky, Jer and I headed out to the dance floor. They had a great DJ there and then a great band after that. We were dancing right up by the stage. So when the band was on there, I had to grab the singers butt of course….It’s tradition to grab butt when Becky is around now. Oh hell, who am I kidding, it’s tradition for me anytime. So I made a friend in the keyboard/singer guy. We danced and drank some more. Did the Cumbia…but I think I was the only white person there that knew how to do it. But it was fun, fun, fun! Eventually it was time to head down the strip to Wynn and on the way we picked up a few porn slapper cards for Becky to pass along. A few of them had double action on them (you know 2 girls). Interesting and they will be much appreciated on the ship. We get to Wynn and as Becky said, Jer through a clementine (I thought it was a tangerine actually) onto the valet canopy. That’s alright with me because I really don’t care for Wynn anyway. That place just gives me a bad feeling. We go in and I play $25 in a Blazing 7’s machine and loose it without winning anything that I remember. So we head to the taxi line and Jer and Becky head back downtown and I head over to New Frontier. I love this place. I stopped at the cage and get $10 in quarters to play the ponies. I get myself a good seat and settle in. I chatted with some guys that were sitting there eating some sandwiches. They were pretty nice. I always play the long shot and this time was no different. One of the guys asked if the long shot ever won. I said yes I have seen it win and just after he said that I hit the long shot of 186 to 1. Pretty sweet deal I think. Maybe he was a good luck charm, should have kept him. The night was getting long so I grabbed a sandwich from the all night deli place by the sportsbook and headed south on the strip. Caught a taxi in front of two guys fighting with security at Barbary Coast and was home at 5:00am….or close to that. Ready to do it all again......someday!
