We have 4 nights booked at MB for the coming weekend (2 comped-2 Myvegas) and my wife was looking at paying for an upgrade to THeHotel.

When she went to look at the website it said sold out? Is this typical for this weekend? We checked a couple of other strip hotels and don't see them as being sold out nor is MB, so she started thinking maybe they are starting to rehab rooms for Delano-----anyone have any ideas?

With only ~1000 rooms I'm not surprised it's sold out on a holiday weekend. And it seems as if more people are off MLK day than other holidays like Presidents Day, Veterans Day, Columbus Day, etc... MLK day is the only one of those I am off.

My employer took away Presidents day this year but we still have MLK day. The "fringe" holidays are slowly disappearing.

I'm booked at THEhotel on Presidents day weekend in Feb. My host said that they were going to start the remodel this summer and would only shut down 3 floors at a time, being the floor they are working on plus 1 above and 1 below.

So even when they do remodel no more than 10% of the rooms should be out of commission at any given time.

Ours are the opposite. Me and my wife get Presidents day off(different businesses) but were not off on MLK day.

We don't get it off... I don't get either off actually.

Probably some kind of convention or something at Mandalay Bay would be my guess. Still can't hurt to ask.

Tried to see if there were any alternatives to my comp stay at LVH on the strip or downtown.

Many properties had higher than normal weekend rates. LVH had rooms on priceline on Saturday for $35 (bid and buy) and either the Quad or Riv were $23 + resort fee and tax.

Downtown properties were about the same rates as most Saturdays, but all three Boyd properties were sold out comp or paid for. (though I have called in the past when the website said sold out but they squeezed me in). My Cosmo comp offer was blocked out that Saturday as well. I couldn't book via Harrah's calendar as I move to PHo to close the trip and you cannot book consecutive stays.

I'm off next Monday and also for Washington's BD. Veterans Day is the only day where banks are closed but we are open (I'm in finance).
