A group of 10 of us had a blast! Cabana Friday and Saturday, group dinner at Lotus of Siam Friday night, obligatory visit to Casino Royal, and Rolling Stones for 4 of us on Saturday night. But this is really not a trip report. It is just a snapshot: It's around 1:00 AM Friday night, and I am playing blackjack with my friends, sitting at first base. I was buzzed, but not drunk. None the less, oops... there goes my full bottle of beer. I tip it to my right - towards to pit. The bottle lands mostly on top of the auto shuffler, and spills all over and IN the auto shuffler! The pit critters scramble over, but the damage is done. They push the button to raise the mixed deck (6 decks), and they are dripping with beer. The whole inside of the machine is drenched. There is a bit of a scurry as I am apologizing profusely, and they eventually calm down and reassure me it is ok - just an accident. He tells me they cost about $5,000 each. They remove the auto shuffler from the side of the table and take it away. They bring 6 new decks and go through the excruciating process of counting, checking, double checking, mixing, and mixing, and mixing. Finally ready to deal again after a good 10 minute disruption to the table. We have no auto shuffler, so the dealer has to manually shuffle for a shoe or two, and then... a new auto shuffler arrives! The table, dealer, and pit boss joke about it. They say they are sure it has happened before - but they had never seen it happen on their shift. It has now been about an hour since the incident, and all seems well. Until... Does lightening strike the same place twice? Apparently it does, because I did the exact same thing a second time!!!! It was not quite as bad as the first spill - but it did not matter. Liquid got in, cards were wet, etc. We went through the entire drill again. Out of guilt, I stuck it out through the delay and continued to play. They cut me off from drinking, and there were no jokes this time... but they let me keep playing. If I did not have a long history and solid play at MB, they might have kicked me off the tables at that point. I am quite confident I am the only person who has ever ruined 2 auto shufflers and 12 decks of cards at one table in one hour!!!
