I haven't stayed at the IP since the early 90's and now I see they are changing their name to the Quad. Have they made improvements to their rooms or is it just a new name? I certainly did not see any significant changes to the casino last year when we went there for the Human Nature show.

Just started as part of linq. They are I. The process of remodeling the casino, Porte cochere and did the checkin, eventually moving to the rooms (and hopefully elevators)

There was a tidbit in an LVRJ article awhile ago that stated they weren't touching the rooms.

Interesting, for next spring the rates at the IP/Quad are actually HIGHER than at Harrah's! I've stayed at both. Rooms are definitely nicer at Harrah's and the elevators are MUCH faster! I don't see the logic in the pricing.

Would be crazy if they don't update the rooms. I only heard that was happening. They are going to update the exterior and whole casino but not the rooms? I trust lvrj more than my source

    The article

So its not so much that they aren't planning to do the rooms. Just that doing so won't be part of the initial renovation. Also, with both the money and the work needed to do all the Linq stuff, and all the casino renovation and refacing, it would be pretty tough to do the rooms at the same time. They'd probably have to close and re-open to pull that off.

My guess is when they do them, it'll be a floor at a time, and it will be new furniture/bathroom fixtures, not any major floor plan changes.

Because it's Las Vegas. As long as people are willing to stay at that place why should management spend any money on room/elevator upgrades? They are betting that plenty of people will want to stay as close as possible to center Strip (and to the new "Linq"!) regardless of the condition of the rooms.

Its all about bookings. If I were to go next week, I could get Flamingo cheaper than IP.

So if the Quad already has a bunch of reservations in the spring, they would price less aggressively. Also, if they are going to have a bunch of rooms unavailable due to casino/exterior construction, they need less demand to fill up.

Their stock performance recently suggests that they are losing this bet.

It's understandable that everyone want the rooms redone. Even the ones that were updated aren't in great shape. But at the same time, when the Linq was announced, there were lots of complaints that room rates would go up. There is no point in remodeling rooms if you average room rate won't go up enough to pay off the the costs.

I stayed at Imperial Palace last week for 5 nights. I mentioned this in the TR section when i came back. I was there from Nov.4th-Nov.9th, and the elevators were not only fast but quick. I stayed on the 10th floor and no matter what time of day it was, going to/from my room was NEVER EVER a problem. I have never stayed or gambled at IP, just needed something cheap to update my TR card after being away for two years, as i usually stay at Bally's, Paris, Ph. I heard the horror stories. Maybe it was the time of the year and maybe because i stayed Sun.-Fri., but the elevators were among the best i've ever had as far as efficiency. If Harrah's is supposedly much faster i suggest bringing the Sahara rollercoaster to Harrah's and charging $7.50 per ride if people need to get to the room faster than what i experienced.

    Quad/Imperial Palace

I have read every recent reviews (past month) about this place on Trip Adviser. The most common word I see is "filthy". Can anyone collaborate this "filthy" descriptor? I see that Harrah's has the rooms deeply discounted.
