Considering an off strip visit. As far as rooms/bathrooms go which would you recommend, The Orleans or Gold Coast? I'll be going solo, if that helps.

Any other info or input is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks VMB. :peace:

Both are about the same, IMO.
I prefer GC for gambling and restaurants, Orleans for carrying Bud Light Lime.

I am fond of the rooms at Orleans, and the casino has a nicer vibe and a more pleasant layout. Some of GC's games are better.

Either is good. AND there is a shuttle between the two which allows visits to the other casino. Better VP offerings at GC and more optional "goofy" bets at craps. But the crews and personnel seem more lively at Orleans. Renovated rooms at Gold Coast are nice. Elevator service is fast at Orleans and corridors long at both. The Prime Rib loft upstairs has some obscene number of days aged prime rib. Yummy.....and the Cortez Room is good at the GC. Food Court is better at Orleans (variety) and no poker at GC, but certainly at the Orleans. Have a great time...

Edge to Orleans just because of the larger room and room safe.I think that food is much better at Gold Coast, though, and I tend to have more luck there.

I,d give the edge to the Orleans, as Leo21 says because of the room safe and the larger casino, but both are solid choices.

My brother likes the "faux west elm" remodels at the Gold Coast. I like the pool area at the Orleans, and we had a tub (though a pretty regular, underwhelming one) at the Orleans. Looks like Gold Coast might just have walk in showers. I do like having easy access to 2 other properties, Rio and Palms, while at the Gold Coast. So....I can't decide! Probably Gold Coast in Winter, The Orleans in the Summer.

If you're by yourself, either will do - as stated above - pretty standard rooms - not at all fancy, but still comfy. I like GC because you can walk to the Palms and the Rio (though there's nothing to play at Rio). With car, GC is a little closer to I-15, but the Flamingo exit is messy at times - so is Tropicana, for that matter.

I used to favor Gold Coast but have stayed the past dozen trips at Orleans because of easy room comps. Room size at each is generous compared to the Strip.
Orleans gives you more reasons to stay put: more restaurants, five VP bars, food court, no place to walk to other than the McMullan's Pub (worth a visit, they will comp your pint at their VP.)
Gold Coast gives you more foot-friendly options. Easy walk to Palms and Rio, avoid the Gold Coast's scary parking structure at night. From Rio free shuttle to Harrah's. Uncomfortable but manageable walk to the Strip.

Enjoy the reasonably priced liquor stores at either place.

I always choose Orleans over Gold Coast for a couple of reasons.

    1. The rooms are larger and nicer (although I haven't stayed in a remodeled room at Gold Coast).
    2. Gold Coast is extremely smoky with super low ceilings,
    3. I ALWAYS win on the slots at Orleans.
    4. Orleans has a huge variety of machines and the craps and roulette tables are usually more active.

We have had a really nice prime rib dinner in the buffet at Gold Coast though. We still go there to play for a while every trip, usually hit the roulette table for a bit and play the wild cherry dollar slots by the doors because they usually treat me well.

I like the vibe at Orleans better; plus, if you don't plan to go off-property, it's quite large.
However, if you're just looking for some place to crash, Gold Coast is quick access to Rio & Palms. Plus, you can catch either shuttle (Rio or Boyd) to get to the strip. (Or walk it, it's not a bad little walk)

I've stayed at both, really a toss up for me. If solo I tend to stay at Gold Coast just to have the Palms nearby as a late night alternative once the rental car needs to be shut down.

If you like Chinese food I would highly recommend dining at Ping Pang Pong at the Gold Coast. Hidden in the back with a less than a stylish name, the place has some of the best dim sum I have ever had at very reasonable prices.

    Thanks gang, much appreciated!!!

I'm leaning towards The Orleans and getting a premium king room. I've looked on the Internet for pictures of the bathrooms in those rooms with no luck.....argh.

Last time I shared a room at Orleans with my snoring brother I checked to see if a queen mattress would fit on the floor of the bathroom. ..it would. Recently they have been updating the bathrooms with rainfall shower heads and glass half-doors, maybe you could find pix on tripadvisor.

I stayed at The Orleans in September, had a blast. Also, took the free shuttle and hung out for a bit and played at the Gold Coast. As far as off strip properties, as in right off the strip, you can't go wrong with either. You've already received awesome feedback. The bang for the buck, for an off strip property that's only like a mile-ish west of the strip, both will do! The Gold Coast does have the cool options of Rio & Palms right there. I had a premium king room at Orleans in September and it was a pretty standard bathroom with a small window you could crack open to get some fresh air in. Either way, have fun! They're both solid, slightly off strip options!

Not much to say on the bathrooms. They are kinda motel-ish because that's where the "closet" is as well. There is a half door separating the toilet/bath area from the vanity and a window in the shower, which is useful for ventilation. There are some pretty accurate pix on tripadvisor. I don't know if it's complete yet, but they have started to update the hallways, which was the only thing detracting from the premium remodels.

FWIW, just a couple of pics of the Orleans bathrooms in a standard room. Very spacious IMO. Hope it helps.

I've stayed at both ages ago, I can't give you up to date info on how the rooms are. But, I can comment on location if that means anything to you. I prefer the Gold Coast because you can still take a short stagger to the Rio and Palms if you want some variety.

There used to be several free shuttle options available at Rio. When I travel solo I am cab averse.
