Yea I get it. Actually, I am thinking of the MGM Meeting room where this was decided. That must have been a real circus. Or at least a "goat rodeo".

This is what I was thinking every time I read a quote from this guy. There's a difference between trying to be unique, innovative, and forward thinking versus simply trying to tell people what they'll like and what they want. Blowing an entire concept out of the water that helped make the city as successful as it is today and is a major part of the city's image doesn't come across very well to me and is kind of insulting.

We so not need to have a property themed after a city from far away! So please come visit the NoMad hotel, named after a neighborhood in New York City, featuring an Eataly, the first in the US happened to be in NoMad in NYC, next to the NYNY Hotel, complete with a fake fucking New York City.

They could have split it up to Manhatten, Queens, Harlem, Brooklyn, Staten Island. Its just something to charge higher prices to complement parking fees, resort fees

Rebranding or not, you can't get around the architectural bones....no matter how much of a face lift----the windows are always going to be small. I just don't know how they're going to try to compete with the floor-to-ceiling windows of Cosmo, Aria, MB, etc.

It's fine if they plan to stay mid-tier or go to upper mid-tier, but it seems like they have high hopes of trying to wrestle up into the top tier.

If they can do it, kudos----I've always had a soft spot for MC even though it's a bit tired...but I'm just not sure how they're going to deliver top tier glamour without the epic views the newer properties have....

But, props for the wood floors in NoMad, that could be really pretty...but I like old world :)

Where did you hear about a new name? I don't think they'll change it, can't see any logical reason for it.

Well, maybe. But the objection to the MC name is mainly that it is another gambling tourist destination, so naming something after it suggests the thing itself is the prime destination, and yours is just a knockoff.

Oh, sorry, wait. They do not want their hotels named after a place somewhere in the world. So get rid of Bellagio, name it "Lake Las Vegas MGM" or something similar confusing.

One of our local Honolulu tv stations showed a clip of the riv implosion. They also mentioned that Monte Carlo will also be imploded - is that true? Not sure why they would want to start all over again but I guess if MLife group has that much money.....

I thought after they built city center they didn't have a lot of capital but guess they must be doing well.

Bellagio is their flagship hotel, you only change the name for the better. Absolutely zero reason to change the name of Bellagio.

We stayed at MC several years ago and while the front was very attractive and upscale looking, the hotel itself would need a complete gut if they wanted it to be a luxury hotel. It really looked and felt like a Holiday Inn inside
