arrive at the linq in a week. have my room comped but was checking at the room prices and what I could upgrade to possibly with the 20 dollar trick. is there something going on the week of November 1st to the 6th because the price for the room I have is 300 on sunday to 900 on Tuesday. I love the place would never pay that to stay any where.

The SEMA convention is going on that week, which I believe is the 2nd largest yearly convention in Vegas.

I booked Nov 2-5th a couple months ago and rooms were going quick back then

140k attendees at the auto aftermarket industry week. Good thing you pounced on the comp when you did. Doubt any upgrades will be available but it never hurts to try.

Yeah we are there for SEMA. Rates are always high that week. Monorail is packed also.

I wouldn't just assume that. I have been in Vegas during some very large conventions and, frankly, they don't flock to the tables like they used to. Restaurants and shows will be busy, but it's a crap shoot (pardon the pun) at the tables.

I agree, in fact our last trip to Vegas was at the beginning of January during the Electronics convention, which is the largest held there. I didn't notice anything different casino wise

Perfect example. Of the 20 or so people I know who go to CES every year, not a single one of them spends a penny in the casino. That's why room rates are so damn high - that's the only way they can sqeeze money out of most of these attendees these days.

Between that and the bottle service charges, it's a different ballgame these days - at least on the strip.

Yup...everything except gaming tables are gridlocked, during CES. Taxis lines, restaurants, shows, traffic, lounges, etc. Bellagio always seems to be the busiest casino during CES. If you plan to eat at a restaurant during CES week, I suggest making reservations as early as possible.

Somehow I managed to book our two Vegas trips this year during the two biggest conventions of the year. I was real lucky to get comped 3 nights at the Mirage, but the 4th I couldn't find anything strip wise, so.......Our last night is at Ellis Island, oh joy!

Next year i'll check the calender of events before picking my vacations ;)
