Do you work a pit? Because if so, I have questions. First one would be where you say 'be nice to me.' I'm nice to everyone who works in a casino, so that's not an issue. But if you're busy (say it's BJ on a busy night) does being busy trump being nice? Meaning, you can't take the time out to talk to me even if I want to be nice, because you're too busy.

I usually just take my cue from the pit boss. If he's near the table and hanging around, I chat him up. If he's the distant guy who stays back 20 feet and is just watching, I assume it's not a good time to talk.

Well, if I cant take the time to talk to you, that makes me a bad pit critter.....no matter how busy I am. But the players who take the card back from me and growl usually send up the alarms, because thats how they will probably treat the dealer as well. And how you treat the dealer is a hell of a lot more important than little, pathetic, old me.

You dont have to put on a great show, just have fun....and dont be a ****** at the table to the players and dealers. Because we are sick of all the fleas who grind out their lives 35 hours a week trying to get rich at blackjack, and happy people are a breath of fresh air to us.

Hmmm...this must be an anomaly as I think most people here were referring to check their ratings once they finish playing. I don't think I recall a player constantly checking his/her rating continuously while playing.

Seasoned/veteran table players know how to verify info inputted by pit boss, one of which is check with host. This has never failed for me actually.

I agree with Shifter, the pit bosses will try to do what they think is right. However, at times there may be discrepancy between what they rated you and what you actually played. If you verify and and it does not match, there are ways to get that rating fixed.

Bottomline is there are ways to verify the information that the pit boss tells you s/he entered. Almost always, my experiences have shown that what they told me matched with what I verified later.

do people really try to play blackjack expecting a long-term profit? I assumed all the rules had changed enough to cut out any worthwhile advantage play. I mean why not just get a job if your going to play that much?:evillaugh

so tonight i was playing at the Beau. tipping 25-100 per hand most every hand because i was running good. i played between 1k and 6k avg bet, but mostly on the lower end. i only played half of one shoe and about half of another. at the end the pit boss had me down for 3k avg for 1.5 hours. i was easily able to get her to bump it to 3500 even though the 3k was already generous. i really deserved about an hour at maybe 2500 avg. tipping and chatting up the dealers/pit bosses always helps.

    Dead on.

Most people dont realize that EVERY critter used to deal. They all have a soft spot for tokes, and people that give them.

And just to clarify earlier, checking your avg bet is fine, if you approach it right. Problem is, the there is a line between that and a player basically coming out and saying "I dont trust you to do your job right, and I wanna make sure you dont screw me" when they check it. But if it just comes up in casual conversation, then huzzah.

Spent a lot of time in the midwest. 35 hours/week is pretty low for some of them. I know players who literally spend 50-60 hours a week, and I would need more toes and fingers to count them all.

And they act like every 6 card 21 from the dealer is the first one they ever saw in their life.
