I'm staying at The D for the first time in mid-October, so I went nuts and booked one of their premier corner king rooms. Normally I stay at the Fremont but they're sold out every Sunday in October, and staying at the D was only marginally more expensive...even with their stupid $20 resort fee.

I've read through their list of amenities, but I was wondering if anyone had personal experiences staying in these rooms that they could share. I'm hoping it's worth the extra money; especially since I'm always frugal when it comes to hotel rooms.

Just a bit bigger with a fridge. I think view is room depending. I've stayed in one's that just have a view of the roof. I don't know how much more you paid, but I have always been successful being upgraded with the twenty dollar sandwich

Resort fees were ok when it was a good deal for the WiFi but with everyone having smart phones, if you don't already use your phone as a hotspot it's much cheaper to just add it for that month.

I really like the rooms at The D. The Corner Kings are nice, they have a jetted tub :) The elevators can be kind of annoying though.

I have never stayed in a corner king @ the D with a jetted tub.
IMO they're not much better than the standard room, but i'm not in the room that much.

I always reserve the Corner King rooms at the D. The premier ones do have a better view. I have had regular corner kings with the view of the AC units on the roof and this last year we got the premier room and had a view of the strip.
We really like that you get a fridge in the room along with a fairly comfy couch.

These are pics of the premier king if I remember right it was on the 22 floor.

We stayed in one last year. 33rd. floor and still could hear the music from the band on Fremont street. I liked the fridge and the rounded windows but one of ours did have that wrap that was hard to see out of. No jetted tub in ours. The premiere rooms are above the 16th floor according to their website. We are staying our first 2 nights of this trip again this year at the D but we are going to ask to stay away from the Fremont street side.

I was in a corner king room on the 24th floor the other week, so I assume it was a Premium one.

There was a fridge in one of the cupboards, but it didn't seem to get very cold.

The room I had looked out over the El Cortez and you could just about see the Stratosphere the other way.

As I understand it, they didn't update the bathrooms when they rebranded from Fitzgeralds so they are still a bit old fashioned compared to the modern theme of the rest of the hotel.

There was a jetted tub in the room I had, but it sounds like it's pot luck which rooms get one.

I've also read they are now going through the hotel updating the bathrooms.

Edit to add: It sounds like I was complaining, I didn't mean to, I've stayed in a Gold Club room at the Nugget and a suite at the Golden Gate, and I think the D rooms are as good as both of those (and probably would beat them when the new bathrooms are complete)

If the freemont rooms are the measuring stick you are using to evaluate, you will not be disappointed. The two times I stayed at The D, I found the rooms to be slightly better than Motel 6 and the casino (except longbar) still to be a kinda dump. With DTG, Nugget, and The Plaza raising the room quality standard you can do better than The D rooms downtown. The furniture and mattresses are about the same quality as you can find at your local walmart.
