Looking to book the D Hotel Suite for 1 night (Wednesday, September 28th). There is a spot to put in a "SPECIAL OFFER / GROUP CODE" on their website.. does anyone know any offer codes? I did some searching online and couldn't really find anything. Is this something that they typically just email people special offers individually? Thanks in advance for any info!

The mailers I get usually have a code you mention to the desk, or online you enter it in. It is usually an abbreviation of the promo and month/year. Like one for derby weekend might be KYDRBY16 or something like that. I have a host there so I usually just email her and tell her what I need and they take care of it, so I cant give to much more info on the code usage. At any rate, you will love their suite, its huge, especially being downtown.

Good info.. I signed up for their email list, perhaps they will send me something, although I've never gambled there before. The suite looks very nice online.. figure for the price might as well get a really nice room for the 1 night we are staying downtown.. I debated between Golden Nugget, the D suite, Golden Gate Suite, Plaza Suite and DTG suite and think I have decided on the D (seems to be a younger crowd which fits what we are looking for).

Its a very nice room, when you first enter, there is a 3-seat bar setup with two large fridges and additional table space for whatever. There is a dining space with a 4seat table, as you keep going to the entertainment area, it has three tvs each of which can be on something different. Also a large sectional and a pull out queen bed. The large windows are wrap around and are powered near the front door via push button. The bedroom has a king bed with leather headboard and a desk and lounge chair. A couple of closets which are lights also. The bathroom is very nice, two sinks and the shower has two heads as well, making for a super comfy shower. Toilet seems normal though. Soaps are moderate upscale loccitaine (spelling).

That's great about the queen pullout.. this is a guy's trip with 2 of us for sure and possibly 3-4 so it will be nice to have the pull out so people don't have to just sleep on the couch. Sounds like a great set-up.. how far away is the suite from the casino floor?

the elevators exit @ the casino floor. the distance to the casino really depends on what floor your suite is on, but regardless, you are much closer to the casino floor than anything on the strip.
There are complaints about the D elevators, but IMO they are exaggerated and not as bad as reviews might indicate. with that said, I rarely attempt to use the elevators during peak hours.

The complaint about the elevators was that they were slow. That issue has been fixed. They do have an unusual system now where you push your floor number and it tells you which elevator to get on. Don't just hop on any random elevator or you'll be coming back down to the ground floor.

The elevators, rooms and casino are all nice and close to each other. You will most likely have the second to last room from the elevator though, the corner king is on the far end. Its still not a long trek though.

Thanks again for all the info/help so far.. Do you think they will let me check in early on a Wednesday? Our flight gets in at around 11 so I'm thinking we will be at the hotel by noonish..

They are good about early check ins BUT if the people in the room have not checked out you will have to wait. They have noon check out at the D, and are pretty liberal with late check outs, esp in the suites.

We just stayed at the D from Wednesday June 1 to Friday June 3.
We arrived a 10:00 am and I ask for a high floor to be away from the noise, was told that floor 33 should be good,
however it would not be ready until noon. So we checked our bags at the bell desk and started to gamble.
The Corner King was ready at noon as promised, but was not high enough to not hear the band play until 1:00 am (Heavy Base Mostly).
Had no problem with the elevator, as was stated just punch in your floor # and it will tell you what elevator to get in.
We found that if there were to many people waiting on the elevators on the first floor we could take the escalator to the second floor
and get on the elevator by the D grill.
