    My Trip Report

Ok, first off let me tell you that this "report" will be nothing more than a series of memories from each week I was in Vegas, days and dates will most likely be wrong, stats off by a mile and with all the scatter bullshit I'm bound to toss into the mix, this will be vague tale.

Left Halifax and flew first class to vegas via Montreal, flights were smooth and went by fairly quickly as I was having a few beverages on the flight ;) Arrive on time and a Vegas first for me, got a cab to the Cosmo ( the first 6 days I was there on business so hard to justify a limo expense for me). Check in was a breeze, front desk staff was excellent and in no time I was in my terrace 1 bedroom suite. Immediately after check in I hit up the casino, I think I brought down around 1500 to the casino with me to play a little VP and needed up being up about a grand when I stumbled back to the room around 10:00am after about 9,000 glasses of mothers milk Shiraz...literally passed out and woke up at 6:00pm in a massive panic not knowing if it was 6:00am or pm and if I missed the first day of conference etc....turns out it was 6:00pm. After checking the pocket dump, from the morning I noticed that my identity card was blocked with a crusty substance..then it starts to come back to me....at some point before I went to be I made my way over to earl of sandwich and got the usual bedtime snack and a side of Mac and cheese...I vaguely remember driving the Mac and cheese aboard of me with my identity card..yummy...lol!

After I piece together the first night, I make my way over to the Cromwell and collect $150 in free play and start to play some table games over there. After a few glasses of a Cabernet I began to tell everyone the story of my Mac and cheese utensil and show them my identity card...eventually the pit critter was even telling other dealers about my previous night's exploits, I was "that drunken guy"... Anyway, I won't repeat myself cause I already mentioned this in a previous thread but the Cromwell refused to serve me the higher end Cabernet as my play was not generating enough comps to cover the wine I was drinking they said (I was betting about $50/hand bj). After a quick conversation with the casino floor manager I accepted my fate and started betting black chips just to mock and ask the pit boss "can I have a free glass of wine now"....I was being a ******, but fuck me, it is only a few glasses of wine...fast forward 3 hours and I'm sha sha shit-faced again....I think I went back to the Cosmo and dropped a pile of cash.

The days are staring to run together at this point and I only have memories....at some point I made it over to Planet Hollywood met hunter (great guy ) and much later in the night natedog at the cage, I was pretty hammered at that point but it was good to put a face to a handle/name.

Normally I'm a morning gambler (machines), but until Monday I was hard at it at night, boozing and gambling much of the nights away...was at a table for a decent craps roll, I made about 2k ( if memory serves me correct), played some $25 BJ which was fruitless and pounded the VP machines, ultimately going through a shit load of coin-in and getting gold status for another year and getting a slot host. Small tangent here, my newly appointed slit host was awesome, sent a Mercedes to the airport to pick up my wife, sent us up to the encore in a limo, and even booked me a comped wraparound terrace suite for the night of our anniversary...as a result of this Cosmo WILL see me again, and WILL get my play!!! Great job Cosmo and kudos to my host!

Some thoughts about Cosmo ....the Henry has amazing steak and eggs, young crowd and the casino is a shit-show after 4:00am. I had the 2nd best meal of my trip at scarpetta, we had the chefs tasting menu with wine paring......sublime....a MUST and a great table with a perfect. IWW of the Bellagio fountains , a little pricey though @ $400 for the both of us (my host picked up the tab for me)!!!

Overall I think after everything was said and done I was "about" even here...give or take 1k.

Next up, off to the encore...

    More to follow...

Also, I have quite a bit of VP porn, including a decent number of hits, and about a half a dozen hand pays. Need to get the pics off my blackberry first..

Encore...check in here was unreal....as soon as you walk in this hotel you can simply tell they are a step above the rest. Before this trip my intention was to check in, use my $300 in FP and stiff them and play Center strip. Boy did that change...

We were in a comped panorama king suite at the encore with a south facing strip view. Beautiful room, extremely comfortable and seconds away from the elevator. Room was much nicer than the one bedroom terrace suite at Cosmo. This place is soo high end, clean and friendly that it is hard to think about any other property when you are here. In the 4 days that we were here we never even left the property (except to get the rent a car on the last day). I think we spent the first night playing the machines and craps.....a note on craps and gaming at the Wynn /Encore...f bombs are not acceptable or appreciated at this resort, and the dealers have no quams letting you know that it's a no no here....all fine by me, I can adapt ;)

I played craps late into the night with little or no success, I averaged about $100/hand for about 5 hours or so the first night. I wake in the morning and start pounding the VP machines, dropping about 3k or so....after about 5-6 beer we headed off to the pool....awesome pool at the encore,we went to the European pool (no kids). Drank we're flowing out by the pool and we met an awesome couple from jersey and closed the pool down at 6:00pm. I was again on the red wine ... Cabernet I believe....we went to the room, wife hit the bed and I wanted to stay up and finished my "FULL" glass of red wine on the chaise right next to the white ottoman(u know here this is going right)... Well u guessed it, I ended up passing out and spoiling red wine all over the chaise/ white ottoman, and all over myself, I crawled into the bed with my wine soaked doors and crashed. Needless to say when I woke up the next morning, I got an earful from the missus....we called housekeeping and let them know of my accident and they were quick to have the room once again spotless...I looked after them $$$$.

Next morning repeat my early am VP session with a different result...hand pay...woohoo, can't remember how much it was but it made me about even at the encore....I think it was like 3k or so....disappointing to only get 70% of it cause I'm Canadian but from what I can tell I will get the 30% back after I file us taxes.

We ate at SW that night, and spent the remainder of the night at the duelling piano bark what an amazing meal and a great night overall. Also met a nice couple from SC that night, I was calling her Carrie underwood...we went over to the Wynn and played craps after the piano bar...fruitless though, but a good laugh, Carrie was hammered!!

All in all a great stay at Encore, I needed up going though a pile of coin in and ended up "about even", once again, give or take a k or so. Before I checked out I asked at the redcard desk if they can have a look at my play and see if there is anything they can do for me. They called VIP services and ended up comping our meal @ SW, and a few buckets of pool beers. A savings of about $500....

Then encore pool was awesome, our speed for sure, some guy fell down drunk and busted his nose in the pool and they shut down the pool for 2 hours to clean it and they gave us a bucket of beer while we were waiting for the pool to reopen...simply awesome service, a notch about the rest, all in all, the encore is now on our return to list....

Just opened the mail when I got home from work to find this letter from the Wynn ...

    "Dear Brian,

Thank you for visiting Wynn/Encore. It would be my pleasure to be your host at our property.
Please contact me to arrange your next stay. I would love to make your next trip to Wynn Resorts an unforgettable experience.

    Sincerely,
    AR"

    Wow...top notch.....see you soon Wynn ...

    NEXT UP...ARIA....

Our last day at encore I called enterprise and arranged for a 10:00pm pickup to get my vehicle so we could make the trek out to total wines in summerlin to pick up our champagne for our anniversary night...

Enterprise showed up on time, but the line up to rent the vehicle at the location was insane and their computer systems were down, it ended up taking me upwards of an hour to get the vehicle....any amount of waiting in Vegas is painful...all I was thinking the entire time that I was waiting was I could be drinking and gambling or soaking up the sun or whatever.....anyway, all good, picked up the vehicle for like $40 day, did the self park at encore, picked up the boss, checked out (smooth as check-in), that place is awesome....

We had about 4 hours until our check-in at Aria, so we had a nice leisurely drive out to Summerlin to what is now know as "Wine Heaven". This place is the size of a large costco or SAMs club and was full of nothing but wines/champagnes etc....the wife loved this place...I have to admit, I was a bit gitty when I walked into the doors myself. We picked up 2 bottles of 2004 DOM (intentionally wanted this year as it is the same year as we got married), some Moët imperial ice, a few bottles of my favourite (Jordan, Cabernet), and some two hands angel share Shiraz. Also grabbed some $13 bottles of Pino Grigio For the rest of the crowd. This place is awesome and was definitely worth the car rental...this will forever be a mu.st do in Vegas for us from this trip forward.

Ok, where were we....ahh yes, before heading to the Aria for check in we stop at in n out burger behind NY NY....as always animal style, and it was amazing. Check in at Aria went somewhat smooth had to wait in a line for about 10 mins, cause I'm only a peon according to MLife (sapphire). After telling the clerk we are in town for our 10th anniversary she upgraded us to a corner suite, city view facing south (Monte Carlo). Room was very nice, had all the amenities, and the tech factor, but truthfully , not nearly as classy as encore. They did have turn down service. We immediately hit the casino floor, booked our reservation at lemongrass (based on a recommendation from this board) and proceeded to drop the wad at the casino...

I'm really not trying to be a downer here, but wow what a let down this place is....it's basically like a ZOO there. There is no personal factor and I feel like I should have a cloud bubble over my head with a number in it ( either negative or positive, which shows my winnings/losses). They are certainly missing out on the human factor here. Just my .02, we will not return, even though the room was very nice, it is just not what I'm looking for in a Vegas experience.

I'm loosing my shirt (down about 4k after day one). Went from Sapphire to GOLD in about 8 hours of play and have about 110k tier credits. Off to bed, tomorrow is another day........

It sure is, I wake up and head down for the usual VP session and within mins get a hand pay of almost 4k. And continue to hit hit and hit until I'm back even on the trip. By mid morning I'm now platinum at MLife and I get to skip the taxi line...lol, MLife tiers are useless!!! Sapphire to platinum in about 12 hours of gaming.

We head out by the "ses" pool....(god that pool is raunchy). And have a few cocktails and blend in with the rest of the numbers.....after some sun, we head back in to shower and are very excited for our meal at lemongrass. Yes another disappointment, we went with the tasting menu and wine pairing...this was either an off night or we are spoiled here in eastern Canada with that type of food. We found 50 fifty pizza to be much better....(shit, should out to secret pizza at Cosmo right here, even better that 50 pizza), but that is subjective as all food is I guess.

Anyway, I'm not trying to slam Aria or anything, it just didn't have a vibe for us and was waaaaayyyy to big, not to mention if you wanted to head back to the room to drop the kids off you better have a 15 min warning....I think I lost 10 lbs at Aria walking back and forth to the room alone.

Our third night at Aria we have reservations at Giada, and our family's start arriving for our anniversary week....I'll prematurely end off the Aria portion of the trip so I can get on to much better things!!!!!

Upon check out I was assigned a host, they wrote off 2 nights and my lemongrass bill, net result, $152 bill for 3 night, I was pleased with that!!!

Before I landed at the Hard Rock several years back, I was a regular at the Encore. You're correct about noticing everything is a "step above the rest" immediately upon entering. I took this photo from my room... sounds like it was close to where you stayed (south facing and above the 50th floor). Whoops... don't know how to fix this... sorry.

We visited Total Wine and More in Henderson on our last trip specifically for the Moët Imperial Ice. The Summerlin location kept showing as sold out.

Awesome place. We will be visiting every trip now.

Great meeting you the PH cage Gchrome, you were a bit hammered haha. I make it a point to drop F bombs at the encore craps tables because I can feel they want to say something but can't haha...

AR is my host at Wynn/Encore as well...he started out great, but after my play included too many full-pay VP machines, even my $150k/day coin-in wasn't enough to get any special treatment beyond basic room comps. It's not AR's fault, but Wynn definitely got much tighter with comps for VP players in the past year or two.

    Good stuff!

Glad housekeeping was able to get that stain out. Sounded like the scenario that most cleaning ads use to promote their products (minus the drunken Canadian initially causing the spill). :evillaugh

Our 2nd best meal of the trip was compliments of Scarpetta at cosmo...the views were amazing:

    When we first sat down....

    a little later on....
    IMG_20140630_210217.jpg

And the food was even MORE amazing....

We opted for the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing:

My wife and I ate there a few months ago we can't wait to go back the next time we're in Vegas. We had the mushroom polenta and spaghetti as well as the duck & foie gras ravioli. We also had a view of the fountains as well.

Thank you for sharing the pictures. Jogged some good memories for me :)
