    Hi all,

    greetings from the UK.

My wife and I are planning another trip to the USA, taking in Vegas and Southern California to celebrate her 50th Birthday. After numerous trips in October it will be our first in November.

her birthday falls on the Monday before Thanksgiving, and we have a loose schedule at present, but what I want to know is should I aim to be in Vegas for Thanksgiving , which would be a Sun thru Black Friday trip, or the weekend prior ( arrive Thursday leave Tuesday). My wife wants to be in Vegas on the monday for her birthday it's self , but apart from that we are open on schedule, so if anyone has any advice it would be greatly apprieciated.

one thing set in stone is we have to be back in LA on Black Friday ready for our transatlantic flight back on Saturday.

    Thanks in advance

    Graham

Contrary to what others may say, Thanksgiving here is a busy four day weekend. Come here the week before.

Same goes with Memorial Day and Labor Day. The weekends before and after tend to be less busy as people hone in on the US holidays.

I went to Vegas this past Thanksgiving and it seemed pretty slow to me...DEFINITELY slower than memorial day

I have to agree that it is slow. Thanksgiving is more of a family time, whereas the holidays are an excuse for a three day weekend in Vegas. We're already booked for this Thanksgiving.

I always go Thanksgiving weekend. It's not a Memorial Day weekend type of busy, but it does pick up more than a normal weekend. Thursday is hell at the restaurants (don't even try the buffets, you're talking 3-4 hour waits), but people start pouring in on Friday.

We've been there twice for US Thanksgiving and I found it was quite busy overall.

One thing I am thinking is that people saying it wasn't busy maybe they are referring just to the casino angle of it all, but what I found was that it wasn't like a typical busy weekend with lots of the party crowd and club goers but instead families and when I am thinking busy I mean just lots of people everywhere: in restaurants, on The Strip, Downtown, at the mall.

I've gone twice over Thanksgiving and found it to be quite normal when it comes to crowds. The only thing I noticed that was busier than normal was the lines for the buffets. But I went and ate as soon as they put the turkey day food out so it wasn't packed. The lines were nuts around 3pm until closing.

I love being there over thanksgiving
