There is sloppy and incoherent and lazy, and there is taking liberties in the name of creative license. Obviously the language evolves, society changes, otherwise we'd be speaking Old Norse and few would be able to read, and that would be done in Latin. Yet isn't there a need at any point in history for some level of recognizable uniformity? We all can ape the justifications -- "It's only texting," "My friends understand," "Don't be such an old fart," "I don't communicate this way at work." But at some point people need to be able to bring the goods, so to say, and many can't and more are following.

Typos happen, few are conversant in all the quirks of our particular language; sloppy is sloppy.
