We would normally take the WAX to the airport but our flight leaves Monday morning (3/23) at 6:35am. And the 1st WAX bus doesn't leave until 5:19AM. So we need to take a taxi.

    1) Which specific route should I tell the driver to take to the airport from the Cal? We are looking for the cheapest. I assume there won' be much traffic at that time

    2) What time should I leave by?

    3) Will there be taxi at the Cal at that time of the morning?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I can't answer the first two questions, but yes there will be cabs right outside The Cal at the corner of Ogden and First St.

Do you remember the cost? I got long hauled from MSS on the freeway and tunnel for $40. Forget what it usually is on freeway and Tropicana.

One honest taxi driver took paradise road to the airport. Total cost before tip was $28.00. Last year the taxi driver took the freeway. Total cost $42.00 before tip. He got no tip.

Had a driver once who took surface streets to Paradise...total was $18...this was early AM...like at 6 or so...I gave him $25.

But in all seriousness - I am now a WAX fan for downtown to the airport. Catch it right on Casino Center, on the side of Binion's. $2... took about 30 minutes from boarding to exiting at terminal 1.
Great value...decent time getting there... piece of cake... I'll never take a cab from downtown again.

    1.Take Paradise
    2. Bad judge on that because I get everywhere early, but I would say 4:45 would be plenty of time

3.Should be, but if not it won't take but a couple of minutes to get one there at that time of the morning. Taxi rates have gone up, but I would expect your fare to be under $25 w/o tip

Sounds like we should take surface streets to Paradise and NOT the freeway.

What exactly should we say to the driver?

I would definitely take WAX but our flight leaves too early.

Absolutely NOT kidding here - that early? Walk up to the cab stand on Casino Center on the east side of Binion's...there's always 2 or 3 cabs there.
Go to the first one in line & tell him you need to go the airport...and will he do it for a flat rate of $20?... if he says no, say 'thanks anyway', and go to the next driver in line... I can almost guarantee that one of them will do it.
If he does, be nice & give him $25 when you get there.

We just did airport to MSS on a Tuesday afternoon. Ran into some traffic of course so with tip it was slightly over $25. Surface streets, Paradise to St. Louis (usually should be Sahara) to LV BLVD to Main St. Your route will be slightly different but in reverse. Google it for a visual reference.
