Has Mlife started charging taxes of some sort on comped rooms? Having been screwed over a few times with these champions, I've taken screenshots of everything I could possibly think of, hoping I won't be screwed again.

I have 2 different comped reservations at Mirage, here's screenshot of the 2nd one.

The one on the left is when I booked it 2 months ago and the other one is today when I looked up my itineraries. Am I in for a surprise $66 charge? The other comp reservation is 2 nights with $30 extra tax. I'd rather not pay $96 of taxes on $0 room rates.

I have heard that resort fees are taxed but the breakdown on your second shot make it look like you are paying taxes on the comped room. Comped items normally aren't taxed.

Call and find out is my advice. The tax on a room is 12% so see what the value of the room is and do the math?

Yeah. Originally it didn't have any taxes but now it has. Words cannot begin to describe how fed up I'm with mlife and it's reservation system. I'm honestly ready to stay away from MGM casinos just because of this joke of a website.

If my math is right 12% tax on $0.00 room rate is... $0.00. I'd rather not call as the call itself is probably gonna cost me more than the joke tax.

EDIT: just to clarify, the screenshots above are the exact same reservation, one is just from the old site and the other one from the new.

It could be a bug, and they could fix it with a call. I know your comp rate is $0, but the room might have a value in the system since its casino rate and they might have a bug causing that. If that is room tax its on a room worth $137.50 a night. I've booked a room that week at Mirage and it was $88 for a nicer room, $55 for a run of the house. Just some data points to help you. Its work so I just book the tier discount on their site. This is 4 nights same week as you.

    Room Rate Subtotal$420.00
    Savings- $105.00
    Adjusted Subtotal$315.00
    Taxes+ $37.80
    Resort Fee And Tax+ $134.40
    RESERVATION TOTAL$487.20
    Amount Paid$88.20
    Balance Due Upon Check-In$399.00

I just booked 2 Comped nights at Aria and was not charged tax. It must be a glitch as others mentioned. It's probably worth a call...

You don't pay tax on a comped room. The price is zero, so the tax is zero.

    It's a bug.

If you call they will confirm that there's no tax, but whoever you talk to isn't going to be able to do anything about how it shows up on the web site.

My Luxor comp room is also showing tax, looks like 12% of the value.

While the mlife website has always been flaky from time to time, I just bide my time to see if it gets corrected or send an email or make a phone call keeping note of relevant information. Never had any issues that weren't resolved to my satisfaction on arrival. I like my mlife stays and comps too much to let a cranky website drive me away.

Another flaky website for me is V/P - I can see generic offers but always have to call to get details and subsequently book by phone or email to a host - guess these websites all have their quirks.

Hope you get those pesky issues resolved to your satisfaction, if not, thank goodness Vegas has plenty of competing properties to choose from.

I called Luxor to confirm my Memorial Day reservation a few weeks ago and they said I showed a $12.00 balance on 3 nights comp'd...what that balance is for I have no idea, however I think I might call back to confirm the reservation and make sure nothing flaky happens between now and then and if it does give them time to sort it out before I get there.

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to fees! I've never been charged taxes or even resort fees on comp'd rooms. I'd call, ask who I'm speaking with & have them send me a conversation e -mail confirmation so there's no surprises.
    Enjoy!

Just looked at mine and it shows only $9.99 RT, which is for the 4th non-comp day at Luxor

That is a bad sign. $12 would be the tax on $100 of whatever.

It's a bad sign because it's one thing for them to be displaying inaccurate information on the web site due to bugs and incorrectly pulling data from the wrong fields in the database.

It's entirely another thing for their in-house systems to be doing it and for a rep not to recognize that it's wrong.

It calls for watching your folio very carefully on a daily basis while you're at an MGM property.

I quit MGM in 2001, so I cannot speak for them. One reason I quit them is they also screwed me over one too many times with my comp.

In my nearly 20 years of comped rooms in Las Vegas, I had to pay a resort fee(ended up being something like a total of $15) when I upgraded to the Celebrity Suite and had all sorts of problems with doing that since I was a sports book comp but I have never had to pay a tax.

In December 2015 and February 2016 my total bills for my comped stay was $0.00, roughly 30 days.

At least yours is showing the comp deducted! Mine showed "comped room for 3 nights" but shows the total "value" due on check-in. I called and they assured me it was comped, but it would have been nice to see it reflected in the online reservation. Nothing like seeing the full amount due at check-in on a comped room!!!!

I would not worry about this at all.

Sometimes comped rooms will show up with the actual price, but just get comped off later.
Having the tax show on reservation is not a big deal.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably give me a call before my trip just to make sure everything is fine anyway.

Anybody's guess what they'll try and charge me for the following 3-day stay at Delano.

Rang and was told I could have two nights comp plus the third at $55; the agent kindly upgraded to the "scenic" suite, and indicated I only had resort fee to pay on the third night. This was certainly a better deal than I could see online at MLife. Confirmation email came through after the call:

Happy with that, expecting to fork out $95.20 for three nights in a nice room at Delano.
However when I check MLife I get a somewhat different indication of cost:

Glad I've got the email confirmation. Looking forward to an entertaining check-in!

The MLife sites seems to be showing the full price and not what you will actually pay. I looked at my prior stays that they now have up and those even show what the full price would have been rather than what I actually paid. The confirmation letter is what you will pay.
