I had this situation in Santa fa station at 3am in the morning after hitting a progressive royal. Anyway to cut a long story short the assistant took the trouble to ring an accountant (I presume getting them out of bed) from the company hq and she filled in the form and in the area for exemption she enter the code 04 , which I understand is the code they use for the uk/us agreement . I was paid in full at the time so it worked for me and the assistant was given a nice tip for all her help. I keep the form with me in Vegas just in case it happens again ( it hasn't :( )

    Good luck
    Graham

    Canadians - taxed on winnings

Yes we can get it back but its a long process. Papers have to be filled out notorized passports copied and then wait. Eventually after a few months of waiting you finally get it back. It's extremely painful just don't screw up the paperwork when you get home and file to get the money back. Hubby is working on getting money back from our trip from September. He has been cursing the paperwork.

Once you have the ITIN, it's actually very easy. There is a simplified process when you're only filing to get gambling winnings back. The annoying thing is waiting until the year end... It's definitely NOT worth paying those companies any fees for them to do it...

Considering the number of Brits (and Canadians and other international guests), there's no excuse for casino staff not to know these basics.
