I booked an offer at the Wynn, pay 2 nights at $129/night and get one night free and $200 free play. Also have to pay resort fees. I can afford it but do I really want to pay it when I can stay elsewhere cheaper or free. I've gambled there and love the quality of drinks when gambling, but everything else will be expensive. I want to have a good time but at the end of the trip I don't want buyers remorse. Convince me?

Other than the quality of the drinks at the tables, do you like the actual gambling, the restaurants, and the bars? Because those are the things have always turned me off about Wynn; as you said, the restaurants are too expensive, plus I feel like the bars are "nice" but don't have the sort of modern vibe I like, and the tables always seem kind of dead to me.

I prefer free, too, but I prefer staying at a place I like even more. And given how few trips to Vegas I get a year (which I realize this would be an odd statement to make to "normal" people, since I go 3-4 times a year!), I just wouldn't want to spend one at a property I didn't like if better alternatives were available. Hence why I'm paying to stay at Aria this trip despite free rooms at MGM. As long as you can afford it (and your Wynn rates aren't even that expensive), I'd say go to the place you like best and forget the couple hundred bucks that you may or may not spend on the room.

If you like the casino you'll love the rooms, IMO. I would stay there for that deal.

While I agree that free is good and that everything at Wynn costs a little bit more than it does elsewhere (and oftentimes just because of the name on the building), the following statement couldn't be farther from the truth, IMO:

    You will undoubtedly notice it.

Does that mean it's worth the extra money? I don't know, we all have our own priorities. But the service, rooms, public spaces and employees are far superior to those at any of the other mega resorts in LV.

(You asked for convincing, I'm not necessarily saying that you should do Wynn - I too have a very hard time turning down free...I'm just lucky that Wynn gives me as good of offers as anyone else.)

I doubt you'll have buyers remorse with Wynn.

I'd be curious to know where you can stay for free? I mean, if its Circus Circus there's no real discussion.

i figured you werent talking about circus circus for free , but maybe Mirage , TI , or aria something along that line as you said you gamble .

i restate that free depending

so if its something like that compared to wynn i would do free but if its casino royal then wynn but if thunder down under wants you stay where ever:thumbsup:

Most of the CET except Caesars and Crom. Lower tier MLife. I've stayed many places and the only one I really hated was Ballys. My favorite has been Aria but that wasn't free. We don't eat really expensive meals and we walk around a lot. I do not like the Wynns location for that reason. But I love a comfy bed and a good spa which is why I booked the offer. I just know I'll end up spending a lot more than I normally would at other places.

I think my real hang up is that I consider myself firmly ensconced in the middle class life. I'm not sure I will feel entirely comfortable at the Wynn as opposed to Mirage/Paris etc. But YOLO, right?

Firmly middle class as well. We have stayed at most all of the cet properties. Mirage Bellagio and Venetian/palazzo aria. On last trip we had a free offer at the Wynn and I thought it was as the carve said is the nicest place that I have stayed.I did not feel out of place at all. I do think if you gamble any at all they will start sending you there standard corporate offers. We get 3 nights sun-Thursday 2 free buffets and $300 free play.

I love free but also value location and Wynn is too far down. I will say there rooms are super big.

Do you get close to the $200 free play anywhere else? That would help make the decision for me.

I'm the same way. And it's a big part of the reason I like Wynn so much. The service is very good but not uptight or too formal. Sure, you'll come across some clientele that are a bit "snooty". But the employees are warm and friendly and make you feel welcome.

No free play elsewhere. But I'd be saving more than $200 staying elsewhere so financially that shouldn't be a factor. My gambling budget will be the same no matter where I stay. But I can just see myself racking up the fees on drinks by the pool and good wine at the bars.

The Wynn is the nicest hotel on the strip, IMO. If you have never stayed there, I would take the opportunity. For a couple hundred dollars, that's a deal. On weekends, you can expect a standard room to cost $250-400 (depending on the weekend, sometimes more).

I think many people are detoured from staying at the Wynn because it's "too rich" and they feel out of place. I wouldn't let this stereotype detour you. You work hard for your money; you deserve true luxury.

I have a trip set up at wynn aug 8-11. I can get better comps at aria and bellagio. I'm still doing wynn just to try it out. If you can do it, it's most likely worth it.

Sometimes when I have a choice and can't make up my mind I will make the old "pros and cons" list. We all know what we would do as individuals but only you know what are looking for this upcoming trip.
That said as a low roller I love the higher end places because I see how big rollers live. And Wynn tops my list, just can't get any free offers from them anymore:cry:, freeplay or anything else. So no incentives, no deal!

I have a similar choice and am leaning against Wynn. I am in an MGM Grand Terrace suite for the first 3 nights. I initially booked Bally's for the 3rd and 4th nights (double booked on the 3rd). Then I got an offer for Wynn for $139 a night for the 4th night - booked that too.

So I did do a pros list of each property - and Bally's is winning.

    Bally's

-Free (well, resort fee, but I can probably get that comped off).
-After spending 3 days at MGM Grand, a smaller property appeals to me.
-Also - I like Bally's, kind of like a warm fuzzy set of old slippers :)
-Location - which is great for Bally's.
-With double booking the 3rd night, I can just check out of MGM Grand and get right in my room at Bally's.

    Wynn
    -It's nicer.

But, I admit, I still haven't decided for sure. Maybe I should just cancel them both and stay downtown :)

Good luck with your decision and have a great trip, whatever you decide!
