I believe you can stay on the plane.

On SWA, no plane change means you stay on the flight. Others who have reached their destination will get off, the flight crew will take a headcount and then you are able to change your seats afterward, if you wish. Then, more passengers will get on and then off to your destination!

It's never happened to me on Southwest (yet) but it's happened to me on both Frontier and Untied once, and both times at Denver. They will announce that even though it's the same "flight" there will be a change of aircraft, and they tell everyone to go to gate (whatever) and get on, same seat.

No Plane Change means no plane change.

A single flight number might start in city A, go to city B, change planes, and end in city C.

Or you may start in city A with flight number 123, stop in city B, not get off the plane, and the trip from city B to city C is a different flight number.

No Plane Change means no plane change.

On our flight in 3/12 we stopped in Baltimore with no plane change and were told we could get off the plane and stretch our legs. Several years ago we were simply told we could change seats but were not given the option of deplaneing.

Here recently, airlines have been required to allow passengers to get off the plane while they are parked at the gate. This came about from several planes sitting at the gate or on the taxiway in the past for long amounts of time.

that is correct you stay on the plane.... it stops but it unloads all the people at the location and then loads and you take off.....

Its not horrible it just adds a solid 45 minutes to your trip

Depends on how many folks are on the plane... I stopped in MKE and they let me get off because it was only 3 of us...

other times its 20+ people and they dont allow it... which makes sense

You can stay on the plane and move to a better seat if you want, you can also get off, I'm not sure if you can get right back on board though.
