I have decent rates to Vegas, but poor coming home. Any point to buying one way tickets out and waiting for better prices on the return trip to buy those tickets?

If you buy round trip tickets you can 'change' one or both legs if the price drops. You get a credit good for one year.

If you buy one way outbound now, and wait for a price drop on the return it will be a cash savings as opposed to the SW credit.

Kewl! Just don't want to raise any red flags by buying one way tickets!

I always buy one ways. I often fly out on one airline and back on another. There are tons of reasons for buying one way tickets, and it won't raise any red flag whatsoever.

Southwest sells their tickets one-way. What red flags are you worried about?

It can be a red flag if you are already on the terrorist watch list but a regular joe shouldn't worry about it one way or the other.

Worried about TSA wondering about people buying one way tickets. "Is this guy going to blow himself up so he doesn't need a return ticket?" Anymore these days anything and everything you do that is out of the ordinary raises red flags.

Over 70 million people board planes in a given month. I would expect there would 10's of millions that are on one way tickets.

Not an issue at all. We buy probably half of our tickets as one way. Always do SW as one ways. And ,we get pre-check most of the time.

Excellent! No worries! I just don't want to wait for good prices both ways because with my luck the return trip will be well priced and the outbound trip will go high! I'll go ahead and book the outbound today!

It can raise a red flag if you purchase a one way ticket within a few days of travel. This has happened to me before and I got pulled aside for additional screening.
