Hello, I made it back to Htown this afternoon. A family friend who never been to Vegas, my mom, and I went to Vegas this Super Bowl weekend. On Friday morning, we caught a Continental flight, and were pretty impressed they gave us lunch (as we had flown Southwest before and just got snacks). We made it to Imperial around 1:30pm, our third stay at IP. We are so used to the place, that the check in guy didn't tell us where to go in the hotel. I've seen complaints that the elevators are so dang slow, but somehow they were doing pretty well (we did stay on the 8th floor). I didn't care about the view, but next time I will specifcally state to get a view facing the parking lot completely. We were facing the other hotel IP building and could hear yelling and wooing outside. We went to eat at Ginseng, which I thought was okay, but my mum and her friend thought it was terrible. Our breakfast was at Betty's Diner, nothing grand, and actually stocked up on muffins to eat for breakfast each morning. Notes: I dunno why this isn't advertised but from 2 to 4pm; they offer servings of Breyer's Ice Cream for 1.50 per large bowl. We then went to Paris to visit around, since I loved it the last time I was there and the other two had not seen it. Then we went to MGM Grand to kill time before Ka. Despite numerous trips to Vegas, I had never seen a Cirque show. BOY was I blown away at the production! I was stunned the tickets had been reduced to half off and had dropped to $55 for the best seats for their anniversary! The next day, Saturday, we visited some casinos to kill time/gamble from Caesars to Bellagio, to Ballys and Paris. It rained ALL day, and we were dismayed about the Eiffel rides being cancelled. We visited Ballys for the Price is Right, and I was shocked at the poor reviews I saw online. We immensely enjoyed it. I got called up to bid for a Pizza Maker, and wished I bid higher. The game for the winning bid was for PLINKO, and I would have kicked azz on it. I did like the t-shirt they gave out as consolation prize. It was really surreal to have Todd Newton call my name, I've seen him on Whammy all the time. David Ruprecht was the emcee/announcer and I grew up watching supermarket sweep when he was on. Last minute, our friend really wanted to see Jubilee that night, and despite my online efforts to find something on discount, she bought medium price tickets for us. I had no idea there was a $35 dollars off coupon in the free magazines, and wished I made more effort to grab one and look. It was a great show, but not a WOW show that I had to see. We ate at paris at the st. louis cafe where I had a horrible menu choice and regretted it. Wished I had picked chicken sandwich or something. Sunday we were going to ride the monorail to Sahara for the Rick Thomas magic show, but in the afternoon we were so dead tired (our friend forgot her camera from Jubilee the previous night so I had to take her to Ballys to retrieve it from lost and found) that we decided to just hang at Harrahs and IP. It was cool since we'd never seen the SuperBowl in Vegas, and just seeing so many folks walking around killing time was amusing. We visited Mirage and Venetian, and ate at the food court at Venetian. I ate the best potsticker I ever tasted at their Asian fast food restaurant. The day cleared up for a bit so we went back to Paris to ride the Eiffel Tower; it was great but I wouldn't do it again. Skipping Sahara was the best choice we made because it was just cool to play slots hang out and watch the game time to time at Harrahs. To make up for the lousy eating from the previous days, I decided to take us to the Harrahs buffet where I had the best gelato ever. We then watched some of the game and killed time waiting for the Mirage volcano to erupt. The next morning we were proud of ourselves for waking up early to catch the early flight back to Htown, but then hundreds of others did it too, though the trip was smooth sailing and now we are back home. All in all this was one the best organized trips we took in our various trips to LV. But now I want to go back again. other notes: I did play slots and managed to be on the plus side of 20 bucks by end of trip (recuperated losses by winning more at Harrahs the final day). Doing the unlmited 3-day pass for the Monorail was WORTH it, since it was raining plus we made back and forth trips that would have costed us 85 bucks per person for individual purchased rides! I'm also glad last minute we went to Casino Royale to stock up on cheap souveneir shirts that are discounted in this little alcove. I also forgot they served Ben and Jerrys here.
