My parents are going to be driving through Las Vegas on Super Bowl Sunday, on their way home from San Diego. They are staying at a non-casino hotel out near The Cannery and asked me if that would be a good place to watch some or all of the game. I have no idea, but I do know who to ask. :nworthy:

So, is The Cannery a good option for them? Dad is 80 now and not very mobile, but gets around okay with his cane. Can they find a place to comfortably watch without having to pay for a party or $18 beers at the bar? If not at The Cannery, where in the area would you recommend?

Oh.. and yes, the non-casino hotel thing. :rolleyes2: I have spent many years trying to figure out how it's not possible that I was switched at birth and really have degenerate gambler, Vegas-loving parents out there somewhere.

Since they're already on Boulder Hwy how about Sam's Town? Their sports book is pretty decent and has comfortable chairs. They also will probably have a free or almost free viewing party like they do for MNF in a separate room. No guarantees on getting a seat unless he gets there early though.

Careful that we're not conflating Cannery with Eastside Cannery.

Cannery = 2121 E Craig Rd, North Las Vegas, NV
    Eastside Cannery = Boulder Hwy

Yeah, they will be near Cannery in North LV. They will have a car, but since they are driving in from San Diego, I'm not sure mom will want to get right back into the car to head across town.

Mom said they could watch in their room at Best Western Plus, but I think that sounded disappointing to dad who loved the spectacle of the Vegas sportsbooks. I honestly can't even picture the book at Cannery, although I know I walked through there a few years ago. I don't remember it being much more than a few rows of those "voting style" booth seats for placing bets.

I tried to get them to stay at Sam's Town, but mom didn't want "all that casino noise".

I would've said south point or west gate since they are free but that is a drive from where they are staying.

You can always count on the Downtown Grand to be somewhat peaceful.

They should have a small viewing party going on, nothing on their site says they are having a big event. go figure!!

That would be a 6 mile/10 minute drive.
