Doing a full week in LV in May, partly for a convention, partly for fun.

Any suggestions for a Thursday night dinner choice? I'll be staying @ Vdara that night, but am open to anything on the strip or within easy cab distance.

Already on my list for earlier in the week:
    Pizza Rock-late lunch
    DuPars-bfast
    Bellagio Buffet-lunch
    American Fish-happy hour
    Border Grill-dinner
    Bouchon-dinner
    550 pizza-late lunch
    Culinary Dropout-dinner
    Michael Mina Pub 1842-lunch
    Bellagio Cafe-bfast
    Cosmo buffet-brunch

Charlie Palmer steakhouse for cut of the week if a small group or solo lotus of Siam with a medium or large group . Julian Serrano or jaleo are both excellent options as well but Charlie palmers might be the best dinner value in Vegas.

They (American fish) should still be open. I'll be there may 5, and I believe they don't close until end of may.

    I hope :rolleyes2:

Perhaps consider Scarpetta. Their menu is presented in courses but we have never had a problem ducking in for a quick main course. I am partial to the duck-fois ravioli w marsala reduction ; my wife orders the pasta w tomato basil every time. If you are a party of two, ask for a table overlooking the Bellagio fountains.
Added bonus-- the bread service is excellent. I know what you are thinking. It. is. Bread. But we really enjoy it.

Carmine's at forum shops. Better if you are 3 or more.

I read in a LV Sun article that they were closing in July.

SW Steakhouse at the Wynn is a great place. Make sure to reserve an outside table for 7:30.

I'm liking the steakhouse recommendations. I've eaten at smith+wollenskys (great food, excellent service every time) in LV before, but never at a steak place in one of the casinos.

If you're going with another person, their Chile Rubbed Double Rib Eye is delicious and humongous (42 oz). If you're going by yourself, their Bone-In Rib Eye is great as well. While the food is excellent, the view is really the biggest selling point for the restaurant.
