I have been playing using player cards for a long time and have received free and discounted rooms from both CET and Mlife and never thought much about it except "Yippee!" But I have recently begun to realize that I just might be leaving some on the table. So I wanted to know how a casino "sees" me and have learned all about Theo, ECs, Primary Comps and the like. Please check my math and let me know if I am understanding everything I have read correctly. Keep in mind that math makes my head spin and I have read so much I may have it all confused together. Thanks!

    Example Trip:

    1. 70000 TCs Earned
    2. at 30 TCs per $1 Theo (70000/30)= $2333 Theo
    3. Comps ~40% theo (2333*.4)= $933
    4. ECs a)theo*5% (2333*.05)= $116
    OR b)Comps/7 (933/7)= $133
    5. potential Primary Comps a) Theo-EC (933-101)= $832
    OR b) theo*35% (2333*.35)= $816

If I have that right, for ECs and Primarys, which formula is correct, a or b? Thanks for your help. Ignorance was bliss

Go with 4(a) for ECs and keep in mind you get a tier credit multiplier on ECs from 10%-40% based on your tier. I'm guessing with 70k that's Pearl(?) which is 10% so you'd be at 5.5% of theo on ECs so around $128. Your formulas in 4(b) and all of 5 imply you're getting a 40% comp rate, but that's just a soft number. Its not like they'll tell you here's 40% of your theo, how do you want it? Its also based on their own comp values they associate with things like rooms, which you could probably get for cheaper than they comp them out to you at. So even if you think you have some comp value left on the table it doesn't really mean anything unless you're talking about a big discrepancy. Use those total comp figures as a ballpark, not hard values accurate to the dollar.

By the way I'm assuming you only play tables since you didn't list any POINTPlay and you're going with 30 TCs per $1 theo, which is just for table games.

50k TCs gets you Gold. but there is no EC multiplier on table games. that's only for slots.

Are you sure about that? Everything on their website states it as if there is. They say you earn the bonus on points and express comps. It doesn't specify whether slots or table, though points are only on slots.

Thanks for the reply! I'm glad to know that I actually am understanding how they calculate things and see me in the casino. I do know that 40% is a soft number which is why I noted it as potential. I can imagine it would take quite a bit of action to come close to that figure. I really just started looking into how to be a smarter player and it led me to all this info about how to be smarter player with your card. I have NEVER asked for anything and I have never checked with the mlife desk at the end of my trip until this past May at NYNY. I am Gold with mlife and I do play primarily table games (even the carney ones), some VP, and those Wheel of Fortune slots suck in me for a while each trip. I don't think I'm anywhere close to RFB (what's RFL?, btw) but I am pretty sure I have reached a level of play that could get some food and shows taken off the back end.

Thanks again for the confirmation. I LOVE this site!!

well if that's the case, then maybe that's why I calculate that I've been getting 7% of theo in ECs instead of the 5% that appears to be standard. the 40% bonus is the extra 2%.

RFL is limited comps, usually a certain amount per day

There you have it--very good info to have. Some were saying that ECs are now 4% of theo--have you heard anything about this in LV? I have recently assumed as MGM plat that ECs=4%*1.3=5.2% of theo which sounds about right.

Last trip I did not really keep track of ECs earned as I paid for a couple meals with them.
My tier went up 320K.Does that mean my theo was 10667 ?.
If that is right then we all can track our theo and comps accurately if they enter the info accurately.

Be sure to subtract TCs earned from your resort spend i.e. room charges, since were not earned by any gaming activity. I have figured out that I am not getting credited the amount of Express Comps I should be getting. Unfortunately I don't have anything to back up my claim with mlife. I will have to start taking screen shots before my trips like others here have done.

That rate is just for table games. So deduct any points earned on machines and from resort spend first. A $10k theo is pretty heavy action. Does it jive with your table play?

By the way if you don't have the chance to get them from your host, the MLife desk can give you a surprisingly detailed breakdown of all your numbers. Including the breakdown for each individual session you played, which can be pretty interesting to look at if you play different types of games.

Unless the discrepancy is fairly large from what you estimate I wouldn't bother. The 5% number has been quoted here and quoted to people from their hosts, but its not listed anywhere I could find in the mlife literature as being absolute. I unfortunately neglected to ask questions about EC earning rates during my last visit (I earn so few I don't really think about them). But I wouldn't treat the 5% number as being set in stone, and as dankyone posted some are saying its been reduced to 4%.

why would you need to worry about offers if you're pulling 10k theo in a weekend? you should have a host more than willing to put you in a nice suite at RFB any day you want it.

I was hoping for some FP and resort credit. But more important, my Sky Suite offers end in Aug. last time he put me in a Tower Suite.
I think my action is a little below what is automatic for Sky Suites and I really prefer that tower.
I'll get RFB in a regular suite but not in Sky Suites. With the last offer it was Sky Suites plus $500 credit. I have $400+ECs left from last trip.
So anything similar will cover all my F+B with the ECs I will earn in Sept.
So comp my SkySuite with some resort credit and I'll go from there on my own.

I just exchanged emails with my Aria host on Sunday. She said they are behind on the fall offers but info should be going out in about 2 weeks.

My host offered to comp me a couple nights if I wanted to go ahead and get a room booked. You can always switch to a marketing offer later if they offer something better.

I'm totally with you on the fact that it is not a very large number. I guess it's just the idea that they screw around with it. It feels like you're getting "nickle & dimed" even though you are already giving them some action. I'm not chasing comps, believe me. I have played for a lot of years just because it's fun to me. It's entertainment. I have been able to increase my bankroll/avg bet gradually which increases the thrill factor. With that I should see increased EC earnings but I'm not. Discretionary comps are in the control of the hosts but ECs are suppose to be "reward yourself" so they should leave them alone...regardless of amount.

I know I'm probably preaching to the choir here. This forum is great and full of information. I appreciate folks such as yourself sharing the knowledge you have acquired.

P.S. my last trip (end of June) I stayed at Luxor traveling with a group that doesn't really gamble....more into the pool and party scene. I felt like I really didn't play much at all that trip but got a marketing offer for 3 nights in a tower and $50 in FP.
