I will be staying at Excalibur but going to watch a horse event at South Point. What is my best option to get from the strip to South Point. Last year we rented a car but didn't use it much so thinking of using other means of transportation this year. Thanks

Looks like there is a bus route 117 which takes you to South Point.

Unfortunately this bus doesn't go directly from the Excalibur so you have to make a transfer. The 117 map recommends you take the SDX or deuce to the Taylor made golf store and then catch the 117 from there but then you might also want to consider going to the south LV premium outlet and catching the 117 from there.

IMHO, it might be better to just rent a car for the day to get to SP. You can also plan on using the car to go elsewhere that day (downtown? Boulder highway casinos?).

Of course you can catch a cab but it will probably be much more than a day's car rental for the r/t, again IMHO.

    Please look into this route:
Going from Excal to South Point, take the SDX southbound right in front of the Excalibur to the South Strip Transfer Terminal. From there, transfer to the 117. Southbound, the stop for the South Point is on the southeast corner of Las Vegas Blvd & Silverado Ranch. Ring the bell when the bus moves over to make the left turn from LVB onto Silverado Ranch, and get off the bus at the first stop on Silverado Ranch. Cross the street to the South Point.
Returning from South Point to Excal: The bus stop for the northbound 117 is in the South Point parking lot to the right as you leave the main entrance to valet. Then transfer to the SDX or the Deuce at the Taylor Made Golf center.
The $8 24 hour pass might be a good value for paying the fare. A rental car or cab would certainly cost more.

We have used this many times. For us it was South Point to the strip and back. The horse event will be in the day time (?) so no worries the shuttle will be loaded. Read the printed material, cash only.
For others, if late at night and trying to get back to SP, the Excal stop would be loaded.

South Point shuttle is your best bet. We have taken a cab from MGM before and it was around $30...one way.
