So, I'm looking to stay at a mid-range price Strip hotel like Monte Carlo/Bally's, or something a little nicer like MGM Grand for a Labor Day Weekend Bachelor Party --- currently, a 3-night (Friday to Monday) on Labor Day weekend is hovering around $130/night before resort fees. And that's for the most basic of rooms at a place like Monte Carlo. Are prices going to get a little bit easier the closer it gets, or because of the nature of the holiday weekend, stay about the same?

My gut is telling me to wait until at least June/July before I start looking to book for Labor Day. Any experience in booking around that time is helpful.

You can book now and rebook when/if the rates go down. LD is an expensive weekend no doubt. College football also kicks off that weekend.

Could go either way, it's anybody's guess. I recommend booking something and cancel/rebook if something better comes up. That said, I'll be in town then too, like I've been the last 3 LDs and never seen the prices this high.

EDIT: vegasvic beat me to it.

I agree with vic. Lock in a rate you can cancel and then look for something better.

Also, if you are looking outside of players clubs, that rate isn't really all that high for weekend nights, let alone a long weekend.

Last year we were downtown Labor day weekend and paid $60 night at Fremont. Was there for several days before and after and rates were around $35 at MSS . Paid $40 at NYNY for couple days before. FSE during Kansas concert. Rates may be a little higher, but not nearly as big a holiday as most others. Kids are usually back in school and before the big Beautiful something thing they have in September

Book now. If rates drop, cancel the reservation and re-book. No biggie.
Personally, I doubt you'll get a better rate than what you're seeing now.
