TheStrat is okay . Stayed there many times. 10 minutes to walk from strat to SLS monorail. Also cheap can ride downtown Or mid strip. It's a cool safe place. You will enjoy it

    After Dark, please.

Great answer though. Funny as hell. But probably true.

Haven't stayed there but went for a show. We walked it from Mirage to Strat and I'll never do that walk again after the sun goes down. This was also before the SLS went up, and there was a bunch of empty land, but it will still sketchy and I certainly didn't feel safe, even walking on las vegas Blvd. Had to walk past a lot of creepy people who clearly had mental health/addiction issues. It was sad, and creepy. as for the hotel itself, it wasn't anything to write home about and seemed awfully far from everything for a hotel offering nothing.

I should add that our best man for our wedding stayed there to cheap out, and he heard fighting all night long next door to his room and questionable people walking the hall. But this could happen at any hotel.

You said you're tired of the long bus ride Excalibur to downtown (and back) on the Deuce. The Deuce would be a long ride at any time. The best way is the Westcliff Airport Express. To go downtown, board it across from the Excalibur on Tropicana in front of New York New York. Coming back, get off on Tropicana in front of the Tropicana. Under a half hour each way.

I just spent a decent amount of time reading your trip report, Grid. Good stuff! (And anytime I see a picture of a unicorn with hundred dollar bills makes me very happy.)
