    My Trip Report

Hi guys. I joined this site a few weeks ago in hopes of getting some vegas tips, ideas, and peoples experiences. I have found this site really helpful and want to share with you my recent trip to Las Vegas. So here it goes.

Day 1- My Fiance ( i proposed to her on this trip) and I drove to Bellingham from Vancouver to catch the plane. We found that airport really easy and fast to get around and was abe to catch our fight with no problem. Since this was the first mini vacation we had in a while we decided to start the drinking festivities early and treat ours selfs with a couple drinks on the flight. We arrived in Las Vegas at 12pm. We were able to check in really fast. It took us about 15 minutes. I wanted to get a room upgrade since I was planning on proposing to her. But she was with me. So instead I asked if we could get a room upgrade because it was our anniversary ( which it was). We were able to get a nicer room with a view. After checking in we both unpacked a little, freshened up, and checked to see if everything in the room was clean and working. We were both hungry and so for lunch we went to Roxy's. I personally was not a big fan of it. The food was just ok, the service was a bit slow. The staff were very friendly though. For our first meal experience it was not terrible, just was average. After our bellys were full we decided to take a walk around the resort. Within a few minutes my fiance saw a yard stick drink and instantly wanted one. I was kind of surprised because she is not a big drinker. We stopped and got a yard stick drink and ended up just sharing one. We then headed to the casino to gamble. We are just slot players although the tables do look fun and maybe one day Ill learn how to play BJ. Neither she or I were winning at the slots so we decided to take a break and just do some people watching. With in a few hours my fiance was feeling pretty tipsy and wanted to go back to the room to take a rest. We went back to the room and just chilled for a bit. I went to the washroom and the next thing I know she is in bed wanting to take a nap. Who comes to vegas and goes to sleep within the first 3 hours???? not me.. I head back down to the casino by myself. I find myself a monopoly machine, stick a 20 in and a few spins later I find myself up $60. Before I know it I was up $100 and had 3 beers in me ( it was pretty good drink service). I cash out at $100 and I see a lucky seven machine. I think thats the name of it. Who knows. All I remember is that I had to get 7's. A few more drinks later (2), or was it 3? No im pretty sure it was 4. Orrrr was it 5? yeah yeah it was 5. Ohhh who the hell is counting at this point. It was probably 6. Ok back to the story.. I ended up losing that $100 faster than I had won it. I decided to walk ( ok maybe stumble) back to the room to see if she was up yet. She just got out of the shower, and was changing when I came in. And she told me she was just about to come and find me. After she got ready we headed down stairs and walk the strip. I had been to vegas once before but this was her first time. We caught the bus and got off at the Mirage. She was in aww with the hotels, the vibe, and just everything. We ended up walking the strip for a few hours. By this time we were both starting to get hungry. We had dinner at Margaritaville, which was very good. Good food, good service, and a good time was had by all. Probably had a bit to do with the drink consumption though. We got back to our hotel at 1am. We were both tired, both with sore feet, and seeing double. My fiance called it a night while I went back down to the casino. I wont spare you the details mainly because I cant remember them but to make a long story short... I woke up at 8am in my bed ( thank god) with my clothes on, a little hang over, and $300 more than I had before. Wow I love Vegas.

Day 2- Ok after my night of partying I decided I should take it easy. We went downstairs for the champagne buffet. MMMM that was really good. A full belly later and 4 glasses later ( oops I was going to take it easy) we decided to go back to the room and celebrate our anniversary ( wink wink). We spent most of the day relaxing and then headed out to the strip around 4. This is it. I had the ring in my pocket the whole day. I was just unsure of where to ask her. I could not wait any longer and while she was filming the water show at the Bellagio I caught her off guard, dropped to one knee, and proposed. The rest of day 2 is not for your viewing eyes so I'll just stop it right there

Day 3- We woke up late. It was not until around 1pm that we left our room to start the day. We gambled a bit at the hotel. I lost, she won. She ended up telling me that now we are getting married this is how its going to be.... ALWAYS. The woman always wins??? How did I miss that in the manual. We take the bus to Treasure Island where our show is. We saw Mystere that night ( great show) so we kind of hung around that area during the day. We gambled some more at TI. I liked this casino. Right away my fiance won big on a ghost busters bonus. A few drinks, a few laughs, and a ot of smiles later we waked away with $500 between the 2 of us. After the show ( very good show, highly recommend it) we went to Fremont ST. And all Ive got to say is WOW. unbelievable. Great time.

Day 4- packed up to leave to go home. Booo

Overal experience of this trip was an unforgetable one. Now we have to plan a wedding. And a second trip to Vegas together. Yayyy. I hope you liked the report. Cheers:)

Thanks for the TR, Broncobilly! Congrats on your engagement. Maybe you should come back and get married in Vegas! Also, if she wins, it is her money. If you win, it is still her money!! Just something else you should know from the manual. My husband learned that a long time ago!! Maybe that is why I never know if he won or not. Hmm. :grrr:

    Congrats on the engagement!

I proposed to my wife in Vegas too! I couldn't wait as long as you did so I did it in the limo on the way to the hotel. We ended up having our wedding there next year at Caesar's in the garden chapel outside. HIGHLY recommend it.

Congratulations and good luck. The trick is to not tell when you win. That's in the manuals fine print.

    Congrats Broncobilly on your engagement.

I proposed to my fiance at the Bellagio on 11 February 2012. We are in the final stages of wedding planning now, Our wedding is 7 months away (28 September 2013) and no, I couldn't talk my fiance into a Vegas wedding :nono:

(there is a trip report on this site somewhere that has a video from my proposal, I don't know how to link it, because I am not computer savvy)

Enjoy the "engagement bliss", because wedding planning is NOT as much fun as proposing, trust me, lol.

Just start practicing the following phrases:

    "It looks great honey".

"I like that idea too !",

    "I agree with you 100%",

    "Whatever you think is best".

By knowing and understanding these phrases, you wedding planning will go smoothly and you won't find yourself on the couch, LOL.

    Regards,

    Vinegarjoe

Congrats on your engagement, and all the fun you had before and after.

Here's a tip from someone that has been happily married to the same wonderful gal for over 46 yrs. Make it a rule to not keep secrets, make decisions together, and tell each other everything ... including the family finances (even wins & losses in Vegas). Trust me ...

    Good Luck !!!!
