Any reviews on STK at Cosmo? My group is looking to hit up an expensive steak place before we head out for the nightlife.

It's a good choice if you're looking for a high energy atmosphere while you eat. It's not the place to go if you're looking to have a great conversation with those at your table. There will be a DJ playing, mostly 80's music, and lots of good looking people there on a typical night.

I would rate the steaks and sides as good but not great.

Universal pretty much nailed it in my experience, lot's of flash and not near as much substance, definitely better places to have not just a great steak but better priced as well.

My experience as well. It was also too quick. The waiters were removing plates as soon as a fork was down and then the next dish was served.
Food was midling at best. There are better steak houses out there.

Its a hip and upbeat restaurant so if you are looking for a quiet experience look elsewhere. I think its the perfect place to hit up before a night out, the food is very good and the atmosphere gets you in the party mood. So i guess it all depends what you are looking for.

I enjoyed it and went twice on my last trip. I found no issues with the volume of music, but I am only 23 and typically go to the larger night clubs at night.

You nailed it. The steak at a place like Prime or Cut will be better but it's a totally different atmosphere. I really enjoyed the sweet potato donuts for dessert. I've considered going in late just to get that and a drink or two.

I always tell people there are a lot of "traps" when it comes to going out for steak in Vegas. I consider STK one of the traps. Definitely better spots. Prime, Cut ... StripSteak is my favorite. Jean Georges Steak is great. Carnevino. All better choices, if you ask me. But if you're looking for a scene, STK could do it. It's just more experience than substance.

can only confirm what most people mentioned. Nice atmosphere, but too loud. Food presented as if it is something high end and special, which clearly is not the case. You get much better steaks for half the price in Vegas

Food is fine here but it's definitely more about the atmosphere as others have stated. I like having a late dinner to get some food in me before I head out to the club and this fits the bill perfectly. A great dinner starting time is about 9:30-10:00. You'll find a great DJ with pop, 80s-90s, and light hip hop mashups. People are literally up and dancing on their seats between bites. A really cool experience albeit a bit on the expensive side... But hey, it's Vegas! IMO a great place to kick off the night, if you're into the club scene.

I'm also interested in knowing where you can get a better steak for half the price even though I'm pretty sure you have no idea of what your are talking about. If you want usda prime or better the restaurant will charge you a premium.

I am in the minority - granted its not SW or Cut - but I have always enjoyed my meals here. Lots of eye candy and great meals.

I agree with you. Its funny you mentioned SW or Cut who happens to be my favorite steakhouses as well but i dont think STK is a significant drop in quality and i certainly had some very good meals here. Also as far as people complaining about the noise level i dont really understand, if you didnt know they had a DJ spinning records you will certainly notice on the way in. I mean its their niche and the same goes for places like N9ne, Tao etc. Its like going into a sportsbook/bar and then complain that they were showing sports on the TV and that the commentators made it hard to have a conversation at the table. DUH!

I did not say anything about strip location or not, as this was not part of the original question. Why so unfriendly ? The fact you dont know a place for a cheaper and better steak does not say anything about my experience

I had steaks at STK, The Steakhouse at CC and Charcoal Room at Palace Station during my last trip december, and both others are much cheaper and better steaks than STK. And no, I am not comparing with cheap steaks like Ellis Island here. Try the two I mentioned and you will see there are better places for half the price. Or close to that at least...

Its anyhow a question of personal taste very often, but please only judge food you have eaten yourself and not "I heard someone say..."

I mentioned the Strip because you had not specified where in Vegas. I did not mean to come across as unfriendly but the directness of my query was in proportion to my disbelief that one could find a half price steak better than a STK steak on the Strip.
Thanks for the recommendations, I will keep them in mind!

Didnt mean to off as unfriendly just pointing out that your statement "You get much better steaks for half the price in Vegas" is simply false. I been to Circus Circus steakhouse and although the quality is good is not that cheap as you point it out to be. This was over 2 1/2 years ago and i paid something like 50 bucks for a bone in ribeye, so like i said you will pay for usda prime steaks. Its nice that they include 2 free sides or at least used to but imo i rather pay a little extra to get a nicer meal in a more convenient location. If it was half the price though, well thats a different story.

As for as this quote "but please only judge food you have eaten yourself and not "I heard someone say" you could not be more correct. I find it especially with this board that i have a very different opinion on weather the food at certain restaurant is good or not. Although if i hear about a place that get a lot of negative reviews i will most likely never set my foot in the place. I like to eat well and Vegas has to many good restaurants for me to waste a meal on a place that get bad reviews.

I know most any place is accommodating to those flying solo, but is STK pretty good for this? I'm going solo in late April and to be honest, STK sounds like a good time (rather than a more "fine dining" where I might be a little "eh" alone). Thoughts?

One reason, besides my room was at Cosmo, for choosing STK was I was dining solo, so I did not care much about that I knew it will be quite loud. The entertainment factor was high, lots to see and enjoy. I just think the food is not as good as it should be for that price. But its by no way bad...so yes, going solo to STK is not a bad thing
