My wife and I spent last weekend at the Flamingo. Right now, the hotel is trapped in a construction zone while the building closest to it is being renovated. Our shuttle driver dropped us at a corner about a block from the nearest entrance and told us which way to walk with out luggage! (Not what we expected.)

The hotel was nice -- modern with a vintage 1950s motif. The staff was great, and the rooms very nice. But the construction made it a hassle going out at night.

A taxi driver told us which former casino was being renovated, and what it will become, but I don't recall. I'd wait until that casino opens before booking the Flamingo again.

This is due to Bill's being torn down. The taxi pickup and drop off is fine, but the shuttle bus pickup and drop off is back behind Batistta's and it's a long haul. It was like this when i was there in July and again last week.

BTW... if you are a CET diamond or 7 stars player, be sure to get a reciept for your cab ride. Due to the inconvenient shuttle bus location, CET will reimburse you up to $25 in fsp if you provide a cab receipt. i always take a cab anyway, but it's great to have my fare reimbursed in the FSP.

When you check in at the Diamond/7 stars check in room, ask about this. They will direct you to the host and the host will give you a voucher to take to the main cage for the FSP. Both times my cab driver handed me a blank receipt, I just filled in $22 (ride plus a generous tip) and the host gave me a voucher for $25 fsp.

And BTW... in July I hit a $1000 Royal Flush using the $25 fsp! Might as well turn the disadvantage into an advantage!

How is pedestrian traffic along there? Can you walk past the Flamingo?

Yep, there was no problem on the sidewalks when I was there last week. And the shuttle dropoff isn't down the strip... it is behind the Flamingo across the road from Batistta's (sp).

If you are traveling with more than one person, just take a cab. The fare with normal traffic is $16 plus tip, not much more than paying for the shuttle for two people, less if there are 3. Certainly not worth dragging your bags for a couple bucks. And if you're diamond or higher, Flamingo reimburses you as noted above.

We were there on August 26-28. We used the parking garage - If you are taking a cab get them to drop you off at the valet entrance.

I though about NOT staying there because of the construction. Walking past the building isn't a big deal!

Ask for a quiet room away from the construction (we experienced no noise in our room) and you'll be fine.
