Hello board, just a question to anyone who's been out to vegas recently. I know MGM Grand is doing some renvovations but would it be ok to book for a may vacation or should I look for another MGM property. Dont want to have a lot of construction noise as I do plan to sleep eventually while in vegas...

    Thx

I stayed in august and november... for the most part construction noise was minimal. No noise at all in the rooms but on the August trip they were doing work in the casino so there was some jackhammering and dust, but that was early morning (6-8am) and was only in the casino.
In November, the majority of work in the casino area looked done, but they still had some work going on outside. You shouldn't have any construction problems come May.

I got back from MGM about 3 weeks ago. I stayed for two nights.

No noise at all. Should not be a problem in May.

They are pretty much done (at least with anything major). At least I didn't notice anything troubling back in November when I was there.

My only thoughts on this place is it's H U G E. Which can be an issue. Just keep that in mind, lots of walking, and lines to check in and people everywhere. But it's a great place, and the remodeled rooms are great. I would recommend it.

You should be fine now. When I went in June the hotel lost power for 8 hours due to construction workers cutting the wrong cables. Asked for extras because of event and got denied.

Was just there in late December and early January and there was still construction going on , but that looked like it was mostly for the nightclub. You will be alright. The construction might be done by the time you are there.

Well yea at least that's on the outside mostly, but nearly everything inside is done. The casino and the rooms are all fixed up.

Yeah that's what it looked like. On the inside I didn't really see anything. Almost seems like they are done with the inside but not 100% sure.

We were just there last week. The only work being done was on Hakkasan which wasn't near the room towers and didn't cause any problems or noise. Enjoy your trip!

What is the draw with MGM - looking for advice not being snarky?

The only strip Hotel that I have stayed at is the Flamingo. MGM seems huge and confusing in comparison (I also stayed at the Hilton and - on my first trip because it was the best deal I could find...the Villa Roma. I also stay regulary 1 night at the GN downtown.)

    Thanks.

Quality of rooms, sky suites, high end dining, good gaming, and it's kind of a Vegas icon.
