    My Trip Report

    Pre-trip:

Already have the March Madness trip with the guys booked at Mandalay Bay but then my buddy sees a Travelocity DFW - LAS sale a week ago for $126 ROUND TRIP! Granted, it was on Spirit but I have been reading Natedog's trip report and been itching to get back to Vegas sooner.

Book the flight and look at my offers and remember that the Cosmo has been sending me offers since last year based on my short amount of play I had given them. Two free nights? Booked it and found out my buddy had upgraded his flight with two nights at the Hard Rock for an extra $80. Whatever, if we play late at the Cosmo, we have two queen beds to crash in.

    Flight:

Spirit is as a "discount" of a flight as you can get. My buddy said it wasn't bad when he flew them two months before. He was wrong. It was horrible. The seats are way to small for a guy 6'3" (me) and the tiny girl who couldn't be 5 feet tall had to recline her seat on me. The tiny girl was cute (in a hooker-ish kind of way) and her friend sitting next to her kept showing her all the pics in her iPhone. Some were nude. Discreet, they were not. I would have bet they were pros.

I understand what you mean, as a 6'3 guy myself it sucks to be behind someone like that reclines their seat, but if she was hot and was showing nude pics on her phone it sounds like it could be worse.

ive never stayed at mandalay bay, but I hear its awesome!

    Ditto. I chuckled.

    Sweet find on Spirit.

    First night:

We quickly get our rental car and go to the Cosmo to check me in. Pretty quick check in at 8 at night. I can’t wait to hit the craps table and I find a spot to the right of the stick man. I play $25 pass, full odds and $260 / $270 across most of the time. If a couple numbers hit and/or a point is made, I will get a bit more aggressive and will press my bets $25 each. The table is pretty good and I quickly book a $1400 win!

My buddy has to check in at the Hard Rock so we head over there. He was offered an upgrade to a 900 sq foot suite for $30 since they only had smoking rooms at that time. He turned them down…who knows what he was thinking. I try my luck at craps at the Hard Rock and 30 min later I have another $1300 win. I LOVE VEGAS!

My buddy is down playing blackjack, though, so we go over to Mr. Luckys to grab a quick bite to eat. I head over to the high limit area and try a bit of blackjack. After less than an hour of the rollercoaster that can be blackjack, I am up $700. We head back to the Cosmo.

One more craps session at the Cosmo and I am up another $700! Obviously, I am pretty stoked and feeling bulletproof, I head over to the roulette table in high limit to see if Natedog is over there. Nope. I go to the main casino floor and start with $1,000 in chips. I am playing nickels and cover 17 on all sides, along with 32, 7, 5, 10, 11 and 0/00. I bleed those chips off in a short while and decide that roulette is not going to hit for me tonight.

One final stop at the craps table and I win, again. Final tally for the first (short) night is + $4,000.00! :woohoo:

    Second day:

After rising and eating at the Wicked Spoon for breakfast, I meet up with my buddy and we walk over to Planet Hollywood. I test the craps table and get devoured for a pretty quick loss of $1600.

We cruise down the strip, skipping Paris since we will eat lunch there later. The Flamingo is next and again, craps beats me up again and blackjack is no better. Three card poker? Not kind either. We leave the Flamingo with another $1600 loss for me. Will Harrah’s be nice to me? Not a chance. $800 loss and all my winnings from the previous night are now gone. Depression sits in. :bang:

By now, it is lunch time and we head over to Paris and eat at Mon Ami Gabi. The French Onion Soup is wonderful as always and the Steak Bordelaise is delicious. I am more than a little nervous to hit the tables again since I am getting killed in the light of day. Should I just wait till it gets dark outside?

Paris craps table has never been that great for me but I try anyway. My $2,000 buy in is cut in half after 25 min. and it looks like I am facing disaster playing during the day. The dice make it to the end of the table and we finally have a hot shooter who hits about 4 points but lots and lots of numbers. My loss is gone and I walk away from the table with a $500 win. After being down for most of the time on the table, it was nice to finally chalk up a win.

We cross the strip and head over to the Bellagio. A quick walk through the Conservatory and the display for Chinese New Years and we are ready to test the tables. My buddy thinks it’s a good idea to play one of the automatic BJ Shufflers. I would rather take a punch to the face than play one of those blackjack games. I haven’t played Pai Gow yet and I am happy to be up again, so I start playing $100 a hand there with $5 bonus. I get 4 5’s and beat the dealer a few more times than they beat me, so I eventually get up $500 at Pai Gow. My buddy, however, gets slaughtered at Bellagio and gave away all his winnings from earlier in the day.

The rest of the day / evening is a bit of a blur and I didn’t take notes on my phone. I know I went to the Talon room and played a bit of blackjack and finished up exactly $1,000 there. There was no one else playing up there about 6:30 pm. (where’s Nate?) but it was nice. I played exactly one hand of the double deck and got a blackjack. I have HORRIBLE luck if I stay at a table when I get a blackjack on my first hand. It’s so bad (and I am so superstitious) that I will walk. I feel compelled to explain why I am coloring up after a blackjack and walking away after one hand, but after losing so many times after the best starting hand possible…. The shoe was good enough and I was quickly up $2500 but when I immediately changed directions and lost $1500, I decided to just book the win and call my Talon Room experience done for now.

Craps was bad at the Cosmo later that night I went down hard and was just ahead $800 for the trip when I went and played an hour and a half in the HL room on DD blackjack. It was a roller coaster and I finally got off when I was up $2000.

My tally was up $2800 for the trip at that point. I only played a little bit in the morning and was even, so it was still a very successful trip and I enjoyed the dealers and service at the Cosmo. But I never saw Nate!

Oh, I upgraded my seat back on Spirit to the “BIG SEAT” which was a very well spent $65. Not first class, but as wide as a normal domestic first class seat. (Think SWA).

Stalking should be read as "searching for" ;)

    Up almost 3k? Well done!

Yeah, I wasn't stalking Nate. He comes across on the board as a very nice guy so I would have introduced myself if I had seen him. Of course, not in the middle of a roll or a shoe!
