Please ignore my previous description ... I was thinking of the Wetlands Park down on the far east end of Tropicana.
The Springs Preserve is indeed just to the west of downtown, as "HoyaHeel" has correctly pointed out in his bus map link below.

    Sorry for the confusion ....

    Jade88 .... I apologize for my mistake.

I was thinking of the "Wetlands Park" down south off of Tropicana (east).
The Springs Preserve is just west of downtown, as "HoyaHeel" has pointed out on his bus map link.

The bus would be cheaper than a cab, but would take longer.

    Sorry for the confusion ....

    cab or bus

The biggest thing is how many people. The bus I think is $3.50 or 4 or so for a day pass per person. Depending on traffic I don't think your taxi bill would be over $20. It is right across from the texas station.

Depending on the travel dates, you could pick up a compact rental for a pretty good rate from one of the hotels. Combine Springs with Red Rock or other areas. Just a thought.

    Huh ?? Texas Station ??

The OP was asking about getting to the Springs Preserve from downtown.
Texas Station is about 3 miles north of the Springs Preserve.

    springds preserve

Sorry about that, I got to typing and was giving directions to the zoo by Texas. Spring preserve is over near the mall. From downtown its about 10-11 miles, figure $25-$30 cab ride. The other poster was right, you could get a rental car and be in pretty good shape, but depends still how many people. There are a couple of buses that go out that way also, from downtown you could catch bus to Charleston, but there are other buses that go right to the mall, and maybe right to the preserve itself

RTC Route 207 goes from downtown to the Springs Preserve. On weekends Route 208 also goes right by there. If you take a bus to Charleston, you would have to take a total of three buses to get there. Better off either taking the 207 (or 208 if you're doing it on the weekend). Bring lots of water with you if you plan on being out a lot!
