Are there any pro football, soccer, or basketball events/entertainment/experiences/bars on or near the Strip? I'd love to surprise my husband by doing something cool for him that's sports related since he's taking me to the Titanic Exhibit. We're going in August and this is our first vacation together and our first time in Vegas. I'm not looking for anything super extravagant, just something he'd appreciate. Thanks!

With the exception of boxing, UFC, rodeo and racing, there isn't much in the way of professional level sports to watch in person in Las Vegas. Your best bet would be to look at the schedule for your husband's favorite teams and plan on watching a game at one of the sports book or sports bars on the strip. There are lots of good options depending on what you want. Personally I like to find a good bar near a sports book that has video poker. Slow play while you watch the game and enjoy endless drinks. Put a little money on the game to make it more interesting. If you want a sit down experience Lagasse's Stadium at the Palazzo is pretty popular. Make sure to get a reservation if you want to watch a big game there.

I enjoy minor league baseball. Players trying hard with little pay vs. overpaid babies with guaranteed contracts :)

Is he a fan of Dance? There are several places to see interpretive Ballet in Vegas, but the venues have funny names like Spearmint Rhino and Sapphires. :wink2:

That is an option for sure.. Hes not a huge fan but it sounds like there isn't much else in terms of sports in Vegas. I'll look into that. Thanks!

Some of those places are quite fancy and will send a limo for you.

In August the only major sports being played is baseball or pre season football. If he has a favorite MLB or NFL team I would suggest taking him to Lagasse Stadium in the Palazzo to watch a game there. It's the best sports bar in town.
