Is the Lady Luck (Opps, the Downtown Grand) done yet? lol......the biggest disappointment after the bus regulation quagmire.

They say a camel is a horse designed by a committee.......sounds a lot like the RTC!

Here is what was reported in the City Council Notes section of the Las Vegas Sun today (10/17/2012):

    "Redeveloped Lady Luck progresses

The redeveloped Lady Luck casino-hotel, to be known as Downtown Grand, will open in the fourth quarter of 2013, developers of the project told the council.

Seth Schorr, Lady Luck redeveloper, in recalling his 30-year history in Las Vegas, told the City Council when he first moved to Las Vegas, he lived in the Golden Nugget downtown. He rode a bus to the private Meadows School, founded by current Mayor Carolyn Goodman.

Pizza Rock, a restaurant now in Sacramento, will expand to Las Vegas and fill an empty building at Third and Ogden downtown. So say developers of the Downtown Grand, which is right across the street from what will be Pizza Rock."

Thanks for the link and update. I'll be curious to see the final product next year. Is the construction activity visible?

From what folks have reported on here, the activity seems mostly nonexistent. Once and a great while someone will report seeing a truck or two, but that's about it. I'll check it out when I'm there in five weeks. However, since I'll be there over a holiday, I'm expecting to see little to no construction .

    Lady Luck

I really regret that I never got a chance to visit the original Lady Luck. Discovered downtown just a little too late.

Thanks for the update, other Jimbo! If they actually went to work each day, they could perhaps have been open by now! I'll bring my hammer in January!

Was there last weekend (Oct 12) and there was no activity going on at all. I walked by there once a day and saw nothing. I take that back, I did see a guy in overalls and a yellow hat, not a hard hat, just a yellow hat walking around.

I was lucky enough to have been able to explore the lady....but it wasn't that grand of a casino. It was a bit nicer and quieter than some of the other casinos over on fremont but it was far from the "grand jewel".

I have seen some trucks go in and out periodically during my visits this year. But other than trucks I've seen no personell. I'm imagine they are doing lots of work inside and perhaps they don't need much personell working on the outside at this time.

All in all I can't wait for there to be signs of life coming from that area!

I was in vegas about a week and a half ago and didn't see any activity in the old lady luck.

I did notice that the LADY LUCK letters are still on the top of the roof of one building, the east side building. Guess when that is gone I will believe that they are getting ready to open. Sure hope that they do open, while the place wasn't that great it is better than just an empty shell.

As the Shaah mentioned, it wasn't that great a casino IMHO even when it was open so I don't miss it not being there now. Lots of other casinos downtown.

Just returned and saw no activity. VegasChatter has a blurb on plans for the supposed September 13 opening. I cannot see how that will materialize.

I was there last week and saw some changes from last year. The place where all the limos used to park was all torn up,and they are taking the stucco off the outside of the building.
