    My Trip Report

    Hey guys,

First trip share here. My wife and I stayed at South Point with a free trip we won. We usually tend to stay at a wide range of properties from Tropicana to Cosmo to Mirage.

We enjoyed the hotel and found it was surprisingly busy, even compared to some strip properties. The clientele was a mix and didn't tend to a certain group.

Whil here, I played both Bingo and Craps for the first time. I took (and enjoyed) the craps lessons before proceeding to win nearly $200. I was happy with the experience. Usually I play video poker, roulette, sports betting, and occasional BJ.

We ate at Primarily Prime Rib and had an outstanding meal. Great prime rib and sides. The room was nice although I was under a somewhat bright light (seems like places are still working the bugs out of these new fangled light bulbs).

The next day we hung around the hotel before going to Frankie's Tiki Room (15 & Charleston), which is a dive bar throwback to tiki bars (which I was not alive to experience in their heyday). Good crowd, decor, and drinks. I highly recommend it.

We played some craps at the Riviera, where the casino was fairly slow, but there were 2 full craps tables. After that we had drinks and dinner at the Peppermill. I loved hitting both the Peppermill and Riviera...brings back some memories of when I first started going to Vegas. Wished the Stardust was still there. I was tempted to cross to Slot-a-Fun and Circus Circus, but we werre too tired.

We hit the road early the next day to head back to SoCal, and didn't hit any traffic...Great weekend.

We have always enjoyed our visits to the South Point. Large comfortable rooms ... as long as you stay far enough from the back-side rooms by the periodic horses.

The breakfast buffet is always great, along with the free boody-mary as you enter. The casino is roomy, with lots of full-pay video poker, and a good cash-back or comps at .3% .

The only thing that irritates me about the SP is that your overall total player points never show up at the machines, nor at the kiosks. You have to physically go to the player's club and ask for your total. I've never got an explanation as to why they do that.

By the way ... how did you "win" this free trip ... ???

Glad you had a good time, the prime rib joint is on my to do list, but haven't made it there yet. I'm looking forward to the sushi joint opening one of these days also.

My only complaint about the SP is that their slot chairs are to hard to sit in for 12 hours!

    Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the TR. Glad you enjoyed SPOINT. When we stayed the ONE thing I liked the best was the prices of booze at the inhouse store. Same prices as the Supermarket / Costco and you can charge it to your room. Shopped in LA and brought a big cooler. Now I know I do not need to load up before I go....

We scored on the free trip. Someone in my wife's office won the trip through a charity event, and he didn't think he'd use it. So we got 2 free nights at SP, plus dinner and use of the spa. Not bad for free:thumbsup:
