I'd go for the early arrival. You get to your room in time to freshen up, square everything away and are ready for the evening. And there's no feeling of pressure when you get there. There are a lot of places with great strip views. The Mix lounge at Thehotel is one. Take her there for birthday cocktails in the evening!

Pros and cons to both. I'll never forget flying in at night and seeing Vegas for the first time, so I can totally appreciate that. But given only those two choices I'd probably go with the extra time in Vegas. It has been mentioned, but would taking a nighttime flight one night earlier than you are currently planning be a possibility? If so, I'd do that without hesitation. The first night I was ever in Vegas, stepping out the door from casino air into the night and looking down the strip took my breath away. Hopefully it will have the same effect on your trip.

Why not let your daughter choose?

I say go as early as possible, the night you get off work.

If not then, I say before noon.

Yes. Get as much time there as possible.

Here is an idea. Get there by noon, then go sit at Mon Ami Gabi for lunch. And take it all in. Do not waste any of your very, very short trip.

And, if there are flight delays, you do not want to also miss the first evening.

I would tentatively agree with those who say the earlier arrival the better seeing as it's only for three days. But then, I also would think your daughter would get such a thrill on her first "legal age" trip to LV riding in a Limo down the Strip at night. There is a compromise if you can swing it. Arrive early in the day for maximum time to enjoy the vacation and rent a limo in the evening to cruise the Strip. Presidential Limo actually offers a night time tour with stops at all the attractions - pricey, though.

debated this same question with my girlfriend we decided that arriving early and having the entire day in vegas outweighed seeing the strip at night for 20 minutes from an airplane (albeit what an incredible view). There is just to much to do in vegas and you're already paying for a room that night you might as well arrive early and make the most out of the entire day, maybe at night take a cab ride up and down the strip to see the hotels lit up.

I am always one for get there as early as possible....BUT...flying in the night before and staying an extra night might be less expensive. I was just looking for my planned trip in April and flying a Wed flight instead of Thursday and staying an extra night is about $50 less a person...I think no matter what she will have a great time!:drunk:

I like to fly in just before dusk that way you are checked in and ready to hit the town for dinner. It just feels right doing it that way. You don't necessarily get the lights since it's still light out but you do get it on your way to dinner.

Consider taking a cab from the airport and save the limo ride for taking you out to dinner. You'll be more relaxed after check in and a change of clothes anyway.

I still don't understand the prevailing view that arriving early morning maximizes your time in Vegas. Flying in the night before clearly adds to your time.

Get there early, do whatever tickles your fancy, and then do the Ultra Strip Tour with presidential limo. They will pick you up at your hotel and make tops at The Las Vegas Sign, Fountains of Bellagio, Sirens of T.I. Show, Mirage Volcano Explosion, and the Fremont Street Experience. I've done the tour and it's a great way to show a newbie to vegas. The tour comes with a rose, a bottle of champagne, and can be had for $280 in their 6 person limo. It lasts 3.5 hours. Not a bad way to see the town and get a little tipsy.

You would still get to satisfy the wife and do something really cool for yourself too.

For your daughter's experience I would go at night, giver her the window seat to see the sparkling oasis in the desert. Something about coming into Vegas at night is spectacular. I would think it would be a great way to start your trip.

    I vote this^^^^^^^^^

I think the daughter will be better served seeing those same lights via a limo ride after having her first taste of alcohol :)wink2:) and some good food. Me, when I get into town, the first thing I want to do is get into the room and shower/change.

I always try to show up around check in time. Though the hotels have usually let me have my room as early as I want.

I vote for 2-3pm afternoon. Daylight hours if you rent a car and will be driving from the airport.

I always try to fly in at night, if for no other reason than to see LV in all her glory. I think this is an especially great way to see Las Vegas for the first time, but that's just my opinion. Anyway, hope you and your family have an awesome trip. Have fun.:peace:

I like getting there early. BUT everyone should fly in at least once in their life at night, the lights are awesome.

You could get there early, and fly out at night, I don't see why the lights wouldn't be as good leaving.

The lights will be seen eventually. I arrived during the day my first trip and there was still plenty wow factor for me without the lights. Time in Vegas is priority.

Even with a night arrival, it's not a guarantee that you'll get a perfect view of the strip from the plane. You have to be on the correct side of the plane, not have the wing blocking, have the whole window to look out of. Too many variables. I think a nice ride up the strip when the lights come up or going to the Paris tower or the Stratosphere tower to watch the lights come up is a for sure way to get the "wow" you're looking for. However, sometimes when somebody gets something in their head...Good luck to you!
