I have always been in Vegas with friends- never been on a solo trip. I have an upcoming trip in June but with few concerns:
    1. I am afraid that without company - gambling will be the only thing to do- risk of running through the bankroll quickly.
    2. Does it get too lonely after the first day...I am planning 3 nights.

    Any tips will be helpful...:rolleyes2:

I will usually play in a few poker tournaments to kill time and save money.

You gotta make sure you plan what you wanna do when you're solo. If you have a plan and keep yourself occupied, you won't feel lonesome. Also, eat at restaurants with bars, gamble on the table tops (don't lose your money there, just go there to talk to people), and try to get out of your comfort zone. I've almost always met random people on my solo trips and have ended up having a great night hanging out with them -- and I didn't even need to pay them! Everyone's there too have fun :)

Gobs of solo trips under my belt.

Eat great food. Play golf. Binge watch ESPN and order room service. Find a good VP machine at a bar with a friendly 'tender. Find the happy folks playing blackjack and sit for a spell. See stuff you've never seen. Spa it. Go shopping. Eat MORE great food.

I, too, have gobs of solo trips under my belt. And, I don't play golf - more like "whack frig" - and still have plenty to do. Like ken2v says: eat great food, got to the gym/spa, play in some poker tournaments etc. I never run out of things to do.

I love going solo. I will be there solo my next trip June 6-8. I never seem to run out of things to do. I belong to a big Facebook solo group that has tons of meet ups there.

Why is spending three days just gambling a problem? But seriously, you make a daily gambling budget and stick to it. And make time to smell the proverbial roses. Plan on some shows or sightseeing you want to do. And dine, just don't grab meals. That will break up the sessions.

You can be as lonely or social as you choose to be. It's easy to find people to interact with, especially in the casino.

Don't plan too much. That is the best about solo. Stay out late or go to bed early, nobody cares. Eat dessert first.

I also like going out of my comfort zone, such as going to a show alone. Check for last minute show tickets. One person can get great single seats. Study up on a game you haven't played and give it a try.

I also enjoy finding out about fellow gamblers. Ask where they are from, how often they visit. Just don't get creepy about it. When I'm with others I'm not as chatty with those at the table. Solo it seems more natural. I just don't advertise I'm alone. Being female, not a good idea.

One warning. Solo can be addicting so next time you pick dates you know nobody is able to go!

Streamline your trip length to your bankroll. My solo trips are shorter then when I go with my Wife and with others. For the exact reason you mentioned. You will tend to just gamble at all hours and if not careful go through the bankroll faster than intentioned.

Three to four days is good. Plan your daytime activities around other things beside gambling. Walk the Strip on one side one day and the other side on another day. Go visit the shark tank at Mandalay Bay, the dolphin habitat at Mirage, and the Flamingo Bird habitat.

Catch the Sams Town shuttle at Harrahs and visit Sam's Town. Catch a matinee movie then catch the shuttle to Downtown and spend a few hours there checking out the bands under the Canopy.

Save your gambling for nighttime and play until the wee morning hours. Then sleep in late and do it all over again!!

Edit: Don't forget to eat. Part of the fun of going solo is wandering around and checking out all the food places and trying them out on a whim. No plans or worries, just doing what-ever comes to mind.....

Most of my trips are solo. I always have a mental (or written) list of things i want to do or places i want to eat...not a strict itinerary, just a list of things to choose from if i feel im getting bored/lonely. I also listen to most of the vegas podcasts, they are always talking about new places or things to do so my list is always long and i can never get to everything.

Be friendly. You'll have people to chat/hang out with everywhere. Stay safe obviously, but, be friendly. Think about things you wanted to do in past trips that you got out voted or ran out of time or whatever and do those things.

Going solo in August for 5 days. Love it -- I people watch and eat great food and go to spas and view what new architecture has come about since my last visit. I go to shows and listen to music in various venues. I chat with people from all over, and retire to my comfy room when I don't want to. I watch the Bellagio fountains at night (tops on my to-do list). Gambling is a good chunk of it, too, so bonus because I can do that at any time (and usually do.)
Really, why did I go with other people and their schedules again? :woohoo:

This Memorial Day is my first solo trip also. I have but one sure thing planned and that is spending time at the Luxor Pool as easy as I possibly can. I do have a few things I would *like* to do while there. I want to visit Fremont Street and watch the Detroit Tigers at the D bar. They play Saturday, Sunday and Monday so I can head there any of those days to accomplish that.

I am also considering the UFC Fight Night event that is at Mandalay Bay since ticket prices are relatively cheap and I've always wanted to go to a UFC event. Other then that......no plans and just going where the wind takes me.

Solo is great.........but like so many others have said I 100% agree, stick to a daily budget/bankroll and the rest works out great. Unless you win mass the first day and don't have too......then woohoo:):):)

I gamble at night and explore all day. I am old though so I often find myself taking a nap back at the room at some point, a rare oppurtunity traveling with someone. Usually shower up again before heading out for the night.

Last time I actually utilized a bloody resort fee and went to the Mirage gym everyday just use up $35.00 worth of towels

It was not a spa entry, just cable weights, bikes, treadmills, and elypticals. Not sure if it is still the case at the Mirage though.

    Have fun and good luck.

I've done many solo trips, usually mine ar 5 nights because I come from the east coast. So I have added a day where I rented a car and drove to Red Rock or Valley of Fire. My tips, some are repeats of others:

Eat at the bar, a good bartender is your friend and will chat with you, you'll find other solo diners to chat with.
Play VP at a bar, same reasons as above. On my last trip, I was killing 15 minutes at the center bar at Venetian. I ended up chatting with the guy next to me and I'm a shy person!
Schedule yourself to see things, the Bellagio Fountains and Conservatory. I always do the Conservatory. Downtown might be tough to schedule on a 3 day trip.
If you're a walker then plan to walk to casinos and enjoy them. For instance, walk to Wynn and go to Parasol Down and sit outside. I do that wether I'm staying at Wynncore or not. Something I haven't done yet, have an evening cocktail at the bar at Mandarin Oriental.
When limit hold 'em was big I would play for hours.
I went to a VMB meetup when I did a solo Christmas trip. It was a simple lunch meetup but was great. It was me, a couple and another single guy. He was also just getting away from family for Christmas. We ended up having a nice Christmas dinner and playing drunk poker afterwards. I had a great time, again I am really shy.
Don't rush, just enjoy. I tend to walk fast, but I try to just take it slow and enjoy the moment.

I almost always go solo and I love it. You can do whatever you want and don't have to worry about the other person(s) or if they want to do something else. You can do things that you wouldn't do when you are in a group or with your SO or a friend. You can get up or go to sleep whenever you want, you can eat a meal whenever and wherever you want and you don't have to worry about the other person questioning anything that you want to do, you just do whatever you want.

I did the group/friend thing before and I started hating it. Always had to meet at a certain time for dinner or to head for the strip, had to wait for the other person or persons, got that look on their face when I made a suggestion they found questionable, was unhappy because I didn't want to do the things that he/she or they wanted to do, etc. Meals were always a pain because I wanted to eat something and somewhere and the other person wanted something else. Gambling? Difficult because the other person wanted to go somewhere else or wanted to stay when I wanted to go elsewhere.

Eventually I found that enjoyed going solo better. I never feel lonely because I have so many things I want to do that I usually run out of time before it is time to leave. I do allocate a certain amount of time (and money) for gambling but I usually rent a car and usually am busy going all over vegas.

I still go up with groups once and a while, just that I do my own thing most of the time. I went up for a bowling tournament in March. We met before the tournament and for a meal after but otherwise I went off on my own to do my own thing. We did meet for dinner a few times but other times I told them to just go on ahead since I had other plans.

Ron, think of the things that you wanted to do but couldn't because you were with someone, then just do them. You might want to rent a car for a day or two and drive off to faraway casinos that you never visited before (like the M, GVR, red rock station, etc.). You could even drive to Laughlin, Hoover Dam, Mesquite or Primm.

Other places that I visit when in vegas: Fry's. neat store with lots to see. Harbor Freight. A guy thing, lots of hardware stuff at decent prices. Too bad I can't bring back the heavy stuff, too expensive. Galleria mall - visit Dicks sporting goods. On the way I also visited Golf Galaxy (in the same area) to check out the newest golf stuff or things on sale. Food - In n Out because some of my friends wouldn't be caught dead in that place. If you still have time you could even walk the whole strip. As for gambling, I usually budget a certain amount so if I am losing I will take a break and do something else. I usually average only about 3 or 4 hours of gambling a day since I'm a low roller so the rest of the time I am out doing something else.

If you ever feel lonely in the room by yourself, there's always a remedy for that for a couple of hours.

As a female I loved my solo trip. If you a friendly talkative person, you will do just fine. I made friends with people in line because I had b1g1 coupons and would split them with people I found interesting. I got to take my time and walk around and absorb vegas. I did what I wanted when I wanted. I still kept my bankroll seperated by days. I could play cards all night and no one would complain.
