I am pumped to be headed back out to vegas in less than 2 weeks. I am going mainly for UFC170 and also to play poker in the venetian deep stacks and maybe the wsop circuit at caesars. I have a friend who lives out there and is going to the fight with me, but he works nights the other days I will be there.

-first thing is first, i started my tradtion of watching my vegas movies before my trip last night. I started with Rounders, and Casino is next. They are both on hbogo. Hangover, Swingers, Vegas Vacation, Rain Man, Oceans 11&13 are some others i will squeeze in.

    - im staying at harrahs and land early. first thing after i get my bags to the bellhop, im hitting hash house a gogo. probably eat bfast there every day!

    - most of my daytime will be split between poker tourneys like i said, and ufc related stuff if im ko'd from them. I will try to hit the weigh ins and a signing or two at las vegas fightshop

here is some other ?s i have and could use some advice on.

    - I may look to rent a car for 1 day or maybe 2. If i did so, where would be the closest place to harrahs to get a good deal?

    - I probably will go downtown to check out some bars(had a thread on this in nightlife section). what places down there does everyone like? how is insert coins? remember , ill probably be drinking solo. and im more of a rock n roll dive bar type than a club guy.

    - whats a good place to eat downtown? like a man vs food or diners dives type place? nothing fancy, just a big fat burger or sandwich.

    - heres where im really debating(and in comes rental car) I may kick the tires on going to strip club, or even moreso, out of curiosity, out to Sheri's ranch. Ive never been to either, and kinda have a bucketlist style interest, especially Sheris. Would love to hear a full trip report or tips on it from a veteran.

I dont know what all I will have time for, but besides all that, i Plan on shooting alot of craps and maybe a lil video poker squeezed in too! I am pumped, and thanks in advance if you can give me tips on what im looking for.

If you go Downtown definitely hit up Insert Coin(s) before 9pm or they make you pay a cover charge. Also highly recommend The Griffin and Beauty Bar. Both are across the street from Insert Coin(s). I think you'll dig those if you are into the rock n roll dive bar type. A little more hipster than "rock n roll" but still cool vibes.

If you're looking for a punk rock dive bar go to the Double Down Saloon on Paradise.

Don't worry it's not close to being LA hipster.

i second the motion on double down saloon. make sure you go there in the morning when you are nice and hung over. order the ass juice combo shots, and take it all in.

i replied to your other post in the nightlife section before reading this. if you are a rock and roll guy, then i really do suggest doing east fremont. more of a rock vibe than the strip, imho. check the billiards place on east fremont too.

For car rental, Hertz has the concession for all of the CET properties, so you would be able to pick up a car at the airport (or at Harrah's) and drop it off at Harrah's. Hertz's rates aren't great, but a lot of it depends on the exact dates.

Dollar has a drop off location at Treasure Island, which is not that far from Harrah's, and Dollar is highly likely to be cheaper.

For most rental cos, if your short rental includes a weekend day, you'll get a weekend rate, which is cheaper than mid-week. A single or two-day rental mid-week can get ridiculously expensive, it all depends on the dates.

Edited to add: just looked at Dollar, for a rental picking up at the airport on Fri 2/21 and dropping off at TI Sun 2/23, the rate is $15 a day. Jump on it if that matches up with your dates.

I wouldnt think you would have more than a 10 spot or so in it. You could walk from PH pretty easy if you really dont want to cab it You could even walk from Harrah's.
