I'm so pleased that only 10 days after we shut down the old board software, I am almost done with the first phase of migrating everything over to the new software. There are still a couple of items on the punch list, but I think I can work my way through most of them. I'm still not handling bounced emails correctly on the back end and one of my anti-spam tools refuses to cooperate. The biggest issue still on the list is that any html posted on the old board, needs to be converted over to BBCode here. That is all those old flickr and photobucket images and every single youtube video, plus some others I'm finding along the way. I thought I had a tool to do that, but it requires a pretty extensive knowledge of PHP regex (regular expressions) and I have zero knowledge. It all looks like gobbledygook to me. If you're a PHP guru who knows of a good Regex for Dummies resource, let me know! So far everything I'm seeing requires you to have a PhD in Computer Science. That is not me. I panic when the WiFi goes out at home. If turning it off and on again doesn't fix it, I have to go to Starbucks. Clearly this is beyond me and editing them by hand may take forever. Huge gratitude and thanks to @SH0CK for helping with the technical edits that needed to be done and tweaking of the dreaded countdown timer script that added 2 months to our timeline. And big thanks to @Char1 for his patience and assistance with all our graphics needs since January. Thanks too to the server team who handled the scary SQL issues, migrated the database and helped me with the search engine issues created by moving to the new platform. Not huge thanks to them though, because I had to give them all my money and a kidney in the process. I also wanted to say again that I really appreciate everyone's patience and flexibility with this. I bought this software back in November and have been working daily on the conversion since January. SH0CK and I were ready to go, on schedule, in March, but the timers were not. Because those timers are so popular, I felt like we had no choice but to wait for the developer to work out whatever he had to work out. I know change is not something the internet enjoys, but you all have been great with giving me some time to work out the majority of the issues. Sometimes the fixes were easy, sometimes I royally screwed it up. But looks like we're rolling along again pretty smoothly! Not too shabby for a housewife, if I do say so myself. I added some default avatars for those of you who don't want to create your own, because those gray boxes were ugly. There are three different ones, depending on the gender you select on your profile page. VegasVic for boys, Vicky for girls and a VMB Icon for "other". I also had Char1 create some new icons for the forum lists. If you're not seeing them, you may need to clear your cache and refresh with CTRL-F5. I wasn't seeing them on my phone, but they finally showed up this morning. If you haven't checked out the board on your mobile, you should do it. I love it! Just point your phone's browser to http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/ If you click the menu on your browser, there is usually an option to "Save on Home Screen". Char1 created a slick looking icon for us that will launch the board from your home screen. I highly recommend this for you Tapatalk users. Now, I'm ready for a nap.
