Travelling Sept 5 - 9th, thinking of booking at the Monte Carlo, didn't see TONS of info, even after doing a search.

Where and how do you find the best deals on rooms? Is the monte carlo nicer than the flamingo? that's the only place we've ever stayed.

There is just so much information, it's making my head spin, thanks in advance for any advice, tips, etc.

The Monte Carlo is one of my favorites. The rooms are more than adequate, and the property as a whole is nicer than the Flamingo.

I agree the Monte Carlo is definitely nicer than Flamingo. I've stayed at MC twice and really enjoyed it both times. Love The Pub, and had good luck on machines in the casino.

There are hundreds of places to book rooms. If you are having trouble with one site, go to another. And, ALWAYS go direct to the hotel web site first. You can look at the entire month of rates and identify some high cost nights that pop up from time to time. And dates that are less expensive.

If you have stayed at Flamingo in the past few years, and have a Harrahs Players card, login with that. You might get a good rate.

Yes, MC is nicer than Flamingo, overall

I think you will be pleased. Nothing spectacular, but a step up.
Good idea to check rates online using your Harrahs players card, though.

Definately want to avoid Flam right now during all the construction. They have been without elect too much lately and too much noise. MC sounds like a great choice. Have a wonderful trip!!

Monte Carlo is a decent choice. But, if you can do better for the same rate, I'd do it. Something like Mandalay or MGM, as they have nicer rooms and more amenities.

I usually check Smartervegas.com before I book, they have promo codes for all the hotels.

    For example:

    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=001&host=promo&show=rates&code=R83298&kbid=335345&sub=1766036!W!R83298

with this promo code for MGM you can get a brand new remodeled room for $348 (for all 4 nights)

compared to Monte Carlo $339 for old outdated rooms

    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=MCH&host=offer&show=rates&code=Q3JUNGB&kbid=335345&sub=1766036!W!Q3JUNGB

Its their slot club, call Total Rewards. You can sign up online, and using your account you will get discounted room rates. I think you need to show your card at sign-in, but all that requires is going to a Total Rewards desk and getting the card.

You will find that almost every single one of the hotels in Vegas will have strong supporters.

For example, hotels such as the following are ones I will never stay at again unless I have no choice, but yet there are people who like them:

IP, Circus Circus, Luxor, Monte Carlo, and Hooters.

As a whole, MC is a bit better than Flamingo. However, the rooms at Flamingo are nicer than MC IMO.

The only time I thought the rooms at MC were nice were the times I stayed in Hotel 32. Otherwise, the rooms at MC are small, uncomfortable and as basic as you can get for a hotel that is considered 3 1/2 to 4 diamonds/stars, etc by some travel agencies.

As someone suggested, if you can find for the same price, I would suggest MGM, MB, PH, Paris, etc.

If you look deep into verious threads, you will find MC to be considered by more than a fair share of people as a really, really BLAND hotel. Trust me, I am not the only one.

But, as you can see, there are people who also like it very much, so as the saying goes, "Different strokes for different folks."

When comparing rates, don't forget that about half the hotels charge a significant daily "resort fee." There's a "sticky" at the top of the LV Strip Hotels & Casino threads that will give you up to date rates. The MGM-owned hotels, for example, charge about $25 PER DAY on top of the rates they show on all the websites (like i4vegas.com).

    Be forewarned!

AGREE w/LAV! Additionally, the walls in the regular rooms at Monte Carlo are very thin . The flamingO has lots of new restaurants and food options that have recently opened. Both hotel pools are nice but crowded! I like the location of Flamingo much better. I would like to hear from someone who recently stayed at Flamingo before i believed a story from "a friend of mine heard that..." regarding any issues at the Flamingo!

yes, i saw that MGM has a $25 per day resort fee and MC had a $20 one, so again prices were pretty similar. We actually stayed at the flamingo in March when we were there for wedding. I didn't have any problems, honestly was just looking into something different or "upgraded" for a similar price. There isn't a resort fee there though, so now i'm unsure. The price they quote you doesn't include those fees, does it?
