I used to smoke cigarettes frequently. A pack a day. I've since moved on to mostly just an electronic cigarette, but if I am drinking or at a party or something, I'll have a fresh pack of real cigarettes.

I heard they allow smoking at the casinos in Las Vegas. Will I be able to light up while sitting on a video slot machine? Can I smoke as I walk in and out? Can I smoke a cigarette while I sit at a bar whether indoors or outdoors?

    Thanks, Mike

Yes, you can smoke almost anywhere with the few exceptions being some hotel areas, malls, stores, restaurants, poker rooms and other select gaming areas. I only smoke in Vegas, and I've never been told to put out a cig.

    That's a lot of exceptions :wink2:

Yes, you can smoke in Vegas, so if you remove the exceptions from above - you can smoke on the street and while gambling and in some hotel rooms. Not in bars if they serve food:peace: (there's some weird loophole there that's been explained on the board in the past - search "smoking" in the upper right menu bar)

I tend to look at it this way - if you're a smoker in Vegas, you'll find plenty of convenient places to smoke. And if you're a non-smoker in Vegas, you'll find plenty of areas that are smoke-free (or at least incredibly well ventilated - out on the casino floor) :peace:

Is it true if you are the first one at a BJ table you can request any future people sitting down be smoke free?

I wish but I've never heard that. I hate smokers that pull up to a table and light up with no regard for the people who are sitting next to them.

Many places will make a table non-smoking if everyone at the table wants it to be. Just ask.

Yeah, I'll usually wait and see if the air is circulating the smoke away from me or towards me. If towards me, I color up and look for another table or leave. Most smokers are polite and will try to keep the smoke away from you when they notice you are being bothered but it depends far more on the air circulation of the room. If space is available, I will switch to the other side of the table and will try to stay on that side in the future to keep the smoke away.

But smoking is a compulsive addiction so smoking goes with gambling like sleaze goes with Jersey Shore.

You don't need to purchase cigarettes to smoke in the casino......just breath the air and your smoking in most casinos......some of the new casinos with higher ceilings have much better air exchange....The EX is like sitting in a ash tray while MGM's air is quite good.

Yes. You can get them in the gift shops. You can also get them from a cocktail waitress usually. (Do any casinos still have the “cigarette girls” that walk around with packs of cigs and cigars?)

You can often get them comp’d at the tables. I think the minimum you’d need to play would be $25/hand. At that level, it would probably depend on the casino. At $100/hand, I’ve never been denied a free pack anywhere.

I think it was Ballys had them for $10 a pack in the machine. At a gas station, a little over $4 a pack. I noticed, and I don't even smoke.

Yes, separate person from the cocktail waitress. She also sells roses for some reason.

In June I know I saw them at Monte Carlo, Flamingo and either Venetian or Palazzo.

I've seen less of of the cigarette girls recently as well. You can just ask the pit boss to call one over and they'll show up pretty quickly.

We just stayed 3 days at Rio and they had the cigarette girls walking around there..with lots of flashing lights and weird head dresses, also selling plastic flowers and light up flashing pins and tiaras. Also saw regular low key cig girls at the Gold Coast. Never asked how much they were selling them for.
